"Um, what was that?" James asked. I groaned again. "What aren't you telling me?" He asked.

I sighed. "I may have tried to stand up to paparazzi and they may have bribed Dallin into giving an interview, and they maybe just created a story about it."

I looked up. James was raising an eyebrow at me. "You tried to stand up to the paparazzi? Why?"

"I was angry! They had no reason to be at the hospital when people are severely injured! It doesn't matter that two famous boys are here."

James pressed his lips together. "Adrian is not going to be happy when he finds out about this."

I smiled slightly. "No, he's not."

A nurse came in. "Emily Gerrick? We have some news about Mr. Reynolds that we thought you might like to know."

I sat up straighter and nodded. "Yes, of course! What is it?"

"If you'll just follow me, I'll be sure to make it as possibly clear as I can."

I stood up, waved to James, and followed the nurse down the hallway to what I assumed was her office. Okay, not a nurse then. A doctor.

She sat down in her computer chair and unlocked her computer. She clicked on a few places on the screen, then scooted aside to show me what she was looking at. I leaned closer to get a better look.

"These are Mr. Reynolds' X-Rays of his spine. See here?" She pointed to a spot at the lower part of his spine. I squinted, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. "He has a hairline fracture right here. This is what was concerning us about him possibly being paralyzed."

My breath caught in my throat. He couldn't be paralyzed. This was Adrian Reynolds, boy band superstar, but most importantly, the man I loved.

"It turns out, after doing some digital tests, with a little physical therapy and bed rest, no severe damage will come from this." I took a deep breath and let it out, relieved, as tears sprang to my eyes.

"So, he won't be paralyzed? At all?"

She smiled. "No. No, he won't be." I couldn't believe it. I realized then how lucky James, Kayla and Adrian were. Considering the severity of the accident, it could've been a lot worse. They all could have...died. I was so happy they were all, eventually, going to be okay.

Kayla

The next day, I woke up around ten. I was hungry so the nurse brought me some snacks to nibble on. Slowly, the pain in my head went away as the nurse put more medication in my system.

After a little while, the nurse had left. There was a knock at the door.

"Come in," I said. I wasn't expecting any visitors, so I had no idea who it could be.

The door opened.

"May I come in?" It was James. My heart beat so fast. I couldn't believe it was him.

I grinned. "Of course!" He entered and shut the door. I held out my arms and he ran into them, wrapping his arms around me carefully. My head swirled a little at the sudden movement, but I ignored it.

"You're okay," he said. "I'm so glad you are okay. Emily was telling me what happened and I thought the worst." He pulled away. He cupped my cheek. A tear slid down my face and he wiped it away. "Are you in pain?" He asked me.

"No, I'm fine. I'm just glad you're here," I said. I wrapped my arms around him and held him close. "I loved that you called me."

He grinned. "They wouldn't let me come in to see you. I thought of nothing else. I just wanted to hear your voice and hear that you were okay. I'm sure I've been driving the nurses crazy, begging them to let me come see you. They declared me well enough to move so I made my way over here. They say I can be released tomorrow."
