Kalani silently cursed to herself as she heard the bells to the diner doors jingling.

"Your turn" She groaned, already feeling tired and over-worked.

She put a fake smile on her face and pulled out her note pad.

"Hi how can I help you tod-" She stopped talking as the person lifted their head up.

"Hey beautiful"

"Not now. What can I get you?" He smirked and got closer to her.

"Your number" Kalani couldn't take this anymore.

She turned right around and began walking away from him.

"Wait. I'm sorry, Kalan" Kalani was wondering how he knew her name but then her name tag popped into mind.

"Sir. What do you want?"

"I'll just get a chocolate milkshake." He said to her, smiling.

She rolled her eyes and walked to the back.

"One chocolate milkshake"

Milly, the other waitress, skipped over to Kalani with heart eyes.

"Oh my gosh Lani. That guy over there is just..."

Mill followed Kalani out of the kitchen and over to where Derek was sitting.

"Well if you think he's so cute give this to him" Milly grabbed the drink from Kalani and hurried over to Derek.

"So this is for you" Millie leaned down to give him a better view but he paid no attention.

"Uh thanks. Where that other waitress?"

Millie frowned and stood up straight.

"Oh...I'll go get her then"

Millie walked back into the kitchen and Kalani saw the deep frown on her face.

"Aww are you okay?"

"I'm fine" Millie replied sternly, "Someone asked for you out there"

Kalani had no idea why Millie's mood changed so quickly. She shrugged and grabbed her note pad.

"So you asked for me" Kalani asked Derek.

"Yeah...Kalani" He said while a smirked played on his lips.

"Sir I don't know you that well and I don't think you should know my name. You might be trying to stalk me and kill me or something"

Derek let out a loud laugh and looked up at her, admiring her beauty.

Even though she looked like she wanted to kill him, she still looked gorgeous. Her braids pulled up into a high ponytail showing off her face.

'She could make anything look good' Derek said to himself.

"Are you gonna sit there and stare at me all night or do you need something?"

Derek showed of his bright smile and Kalani had this weird feeling in her but soon pushed it to the side and walked away.

"Wait! Can I atleast get your number?"

Kalani let out a small giggle and rolled her eyes.

"You're crazy, you know that?" Derek pulled his bottom lip between his teeth and watched as she walked away.

'I'm gonna need to work harder to get her attention. Way more than I've ever worked to get any girl. They usually come after me, not the other way around....'
