Darren was in his office while tapping the keys on his laptop. He was so focused on his work to the extent that he had no idea,his girlfriend came in.

"Hey baby"Karen walked in with her little nephew,Gareth. Darren looked at both of them and smiled before getting up. He gave Karen a peck on her lips and ruffled Gareth's hair.

"You busy?"Karen asked.

"Yeah,kind of"

"Well,I wanted us to go meet Courtney. I had to plead with her to meet me at her restaurant. Today's her daughter birthday"

"Oh...what's today?"he asked while walking to his calendar in order to check"July 28th"he whispered to himself.

"I'll create time"he said to Karen"I can skip today's work"

"Thanks"

"Let's go"he said.

He was so happy that he was gonna see his daughter. The girl he's never seen in his life. He drove to the restaurant and smiled as he got out of the car.

They walked in and he sighted Courtney talking with a beautiful girl beside her. Laine was in front of 'em and they all laughed. He was dumbfounded when his eyes met with hers. Courtney looked at Karen as she walked over to give her a hug.

"Hey"Karen said and hugged her."is this your daughter?"

"Y-yeah"she answered and tried to fake a smile. Her brain clicked to all the tricky ways. Darren used Karen to get to her.

"I'm so sorry for making you come here on a day like this. I promise I won't take much of your time"Karen smiled as she sat beside Samantha.

"Okay"Courtney put on a wry smile as Darren sat beside Laine and Gareth, beside Darren.

"Your daughter's cute"Karen said and Courtney smiled.

"Oh,sorry. Meet my best friend, Laine"Court' introduced.

"Hi"Karen politely said and Laine gave a small nod.

"My little nephew,Gareth"Karen introduced"and Darren,my boyfriend"

Courtney couldn't believe her ears as she heard "Darren,my boyfriend" she knew he'd move on but she never imagined the girl to be very kind. She was torn immediately she heard that but she just wore a fake smile.

"So...about the snacks"Courtney broke the silence.

"Oh,yeah..."Karen started saying.

They continued talking about the 42nd birthday and Darren couldn't take his eyes off Samantha. He wished he was there for her. He admired the beautiful lovely girl with a ponytail.
She looked so beautiful just like Courtney but she took his dirty blonde hair.

"How old is your daughter?"Darren chirped in as they were talking about the party.

Courtney smiled and said,"she's adding a year more"

"Yeah,I'm seven"Sam smiled widely.

Courtney looked at her daughter angrily but faked a smile. Samantha's got a big mouth so it wasn't her fault.

"I'll my boss about it"Courtney said.

"Yeah but I'm inviting you. Your daughter can tag along"Karen smiled at Samantha.

"What's your name?"Darren asked Sam.

He was already pushing Courtney's button and she looked like she was about to flare up.

"Sam"Sam answered.

Karen looked at her boyfriend and wondered why most of his attention was focused on the little girl. She looked at him suspiciously and took her eyes off him. They continued talking about the amount.

Darren stretched his leg underneath and trapped Courtney's right leg in it to get her attention. She sent him a death glare and he did as if he never knew. He was just try'na push the button.

"Could you excuse me for a sec, I've gotta use the bathroom"she said knowing that was the only way she could get away from him. She entered the bathroom and looked at the mirror. She stared at herself and regretted ever losing her Virginity to him.

She came out some minutes later,and met Darren with Samantha and Gareth. They were with a cup of ice cream each and she frowned at the scene. He saw her and walked to her with the kids.

"Hey"he said while holding Samantha.

"Get your hands off her"Courtney said and dragged her daughter to her side."Do you think it's ever possible for you to fix everything after all what I went through?"

"That's why I'm here to make things right for both of us and-"he paused"for our daughter"

"Our daughter?!"she exclaimed a bit getting pugnacious."Where were you-"she moved forward a bit staring intensively at him and he moved back."when I bore her,when I got thrown out of the house by my dad,when I had to struggle to survive or when I had to go through pains after birth 'cause she was premature. Where were you when she had tuberculosis or when I almost got raped on the street and here you are behaving so caring because you've got it all?...I suffered and passed through the Gates of hell before I could bring her up all by myself! And here you are calling her our daughter?"she asked and scoffed. She dragged her daughter along to the table where she was.

"Hey so-"Karen said but Courtney cut her off.

"You know,I thought I could do this-but no. I'm sorry"

"Why not?"Karen asked,confused.

"It's my decision"she replied coldly."c'mon Laine"she added and walked away.

"I'm sorry"Laine excused herself and went after Courtney who was walking so fast which made her daughter wince in pain.

"Courtney,slow down"Laine shouted as she ran towards her. She came to an halt and grabbed Courtney's arm."what's wrong?"she asked and noticed her eyes were already getting red and puffy from crying.

"Are you crying?"Laine asked rhetorically.

"No!"she collected an handkerchief from Laine. She cleaned her tears but more came out.

"We'll take a taxi"Laine said as she took Samantha into her hands.
