Chapter Eleven

The next week,Courtney woke up so early and started preparing for her interview. She wore a beautiful dress and flats with a little make up applied on her beautiful face.

She got to the living room and met Laine sleeping tiredly on the sofa with Samantha on the other couch. The sitting room was in disarray with popcorns all over and the T.V was switched on. She switched it off and gently tapped Laine to wake up.

"Hey"she said in a low morning tone while cleaning a little drool on her mouth.

"What happened?"Court' asked while looking at the house.

Laine paid no attention to her question but she eyed her and asked,"Where you off to?"

"I got a job interview today. You forgot?"

"Ohhh"she drawled and yawned.

"Besides this place's a mess"Court' said looking irritated.

"Sam did it"

"Really? Blame the 7-year-old"

"I'm serious"

"Anyway...I gotta go"

"Isn't it too early?...it's just 7:30am. You said it was by 12:00pm"

"It's at up minster"

"That far?"

"Yeah"

"I'll miss you"she pouted sleepily.

"It's not like I'm going back to Texas"

"I know"she whined.

"At times,I wonder if you're really 25"Courtney smiled and kissed the forehead of her daughter.

"Bye"she said to Laine and dashed out.

It took her four hours to get to up minster because her purse got stolen. She had to walk round up minster in search of the office.
She got there and was told to wait for a while. She waited for an extra hour and was answered when it clocked One.

She got in and was offered a seat by the boss of the office who looked like he was in his thirties and he had a sexy voice.

"So...Courtney Elvis?"Edward asked.

"Yes,sir"

"Can I see your documents?"

"Sure"she said and handed it to him.

"The qualification's not good enough but I understand. I'm really sorry about the loss of your parents"he said sympathetically.

"Yeah"she faked a sad smile.

She lied to him about her parents that they were dead and she had to drop out of school at the age of 18. The interview began and it took two hours.

"Why do you want this job?"

"Because I need to feed myself. Help my friend who's in coma and I need to survive"she lied.

"Wait...you're not married right?"

"No"

"No child?"

"Er,no"she lied again although she felt bad that she had to lie about the existence of her daughter.

"Alright"he said"I'll give you the feedback on Wednesday. I guess...you're qualified to be my secretary"he gave her a million dollar smile.

She got out of the office with a big joy in her heart. She totally forgot that she was stranded. She stopped walking and looked at the sky as it began to rain. She remembered her sister Tanya who stays at up minster.
