Chapter Thirteen

Courtney arrived at her workplace by 9:00am. She was called into her boss's office before she could settle down in her own personal office. She wondered what must be so urgent at 9:05am.

She knocked on the door and entered when she was told to. He smiled at her and said,"sit"

She looked at her boss as he kept smiling and felt uncomfortable about it. He rested on his chair and looked at her before saying,"you must be wondering why I called you here"he smiled."I need you to follow me to Paris"

"Oh..."she said at first"Is it for one of the complains of the-"

"No,it's-"he said but his telephone interrupted him."Sorry"he said as he picked it up.

He sighed and said,"send him up"he hung up.

"We'll be having this conversation later. I have a meeting"

"Okay then"she said and started walking towards the door.

Edward raped her with his eyes and licked his lips as he stared at her ass. His intention is to get into her pants and pay her after the deed is done.

Courtney met Darren as he was walking on the hallway to Edward's office. He walked past her without saying a word and it was a surprise to her. She looked at him as he entered Edward's office and wondered why she was worrying much because she's trying to get over him. She walked back to her desk and worked on some documents Edward gave her yesterday.

It was lunchtime for her and she wasn't hungry. She kept wondering why Darren walked past her without saying a word to her or even looking at her. He just made a frown and a straight face.

She was walking to Edward's office to give him her finished work when the door swung open and revealed Darren coming out with a folder.

"Hey"she said to him.

"Oh,hey"he looked at her and started walking away.

"Darren..."she called and he stopped dead on his tracks."have I-"she paused."or sorry. I should probably go"she said not knowing how to start a conversation.

"Courtney"he turned"you hurt me"

"Hurt you?"

"You told Edward lies"

"Lies?"

"Yeah. You don't got a child and you're single?"

"Am I not?...I'm single mister"

"True"he confessed."but-why would you hide Sam's existence?"

"Like you haven't ruined me enough. I don't get jobs because of you"

"Me?you were the one saying you were ready if you clearly don't remember I do. How's that my fault?"he asked,getting angry.

"I don't get why you're mad at me"

"Yeah,you really don't but I do. See you some other time. That's if we ever meet again.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"I'm not coming back"he said"Never"he stressed and was walking out.

"I get it"she said trying not to feel emotional."few weeks ago,you act all lovey dovey and now you hate me. I should've known you were up to no good and to think that I was gonna let you into my life again"she said and walked into Edward's office. She dropped his documents and left as soon as possible because she got the feeling,he was trying to hit on her.

She skipped lunch and walked back to her office. She had no idea she had already started crying and she was ruining her make up. She stared at her wallpaper which was Darren's picture that she kept ever since. She deleted it an tossed her phone to the floor unknowingly.

She spent the whole day in her office and when her shift was over,she hurried and left for her house immediately.

Darren was currently in his room staring at Courtney's picture on his phone. He stared hard and remembered the funny moments they shared back when they were in highschool.

He had no idea his nosy mum came in slowly as he was staring and smiling at himself. She peeped and saw Court's picture.

"Darren"she touched him and he turned.

"Mum?when did you get in here?"

"Well,now,I suppose. Who's she?"

"Oh,she...um...a friend?"

"A friend and yet you were staring like a creep?"

"Well,we're not on good terms"

"Let momma help you then"

"Nooooooo way...I'm capable of handling my matters. Thanks mum"

"Look, I know you Darren and when you're serious about something. I know you are"

"Mum,I'll love to be left alone"he said politely indirectly telling her to"get out"

"I do hope she's not one of those girls you bring"

"She's not"he snarled getting angry at his mum for thinking Courtney's a strumpet.

"Alright then. I came to check on you since you've been in your room ever since you came back from work"

"Alright mum"he said and laid fully on his bed.

She watched him sleep and looked at him for the last time before shutting the door.
