Chapter Eight

Darren got home really late and met Karen watching a movie with a bowl of pop corn on her laps. He looked at her and sighed.
He loved her but not as much as Courtney because she's been existing in his heart for so long. He thought he'd get over by dating Karen but he was wrong.

"Hey"he said to her and kissed her cheek.

"You missed dinner"she said while facing the T.V.

"I'm sorry"he said and took her hand then kissed it.

"Where were you?"she finally looked at him.

"I was at the hospital. A friend of mine got hurt"

"Is he okay now?"

"A she and yeah...she's fine"

He stood up and went to the room to have his night bath. He got out and met Karen already sleeping.

He changed into his PJs and laid on the bed as he stared at the ceiling and kept thinking. He looked at Karen for a while before waking her up.

"What?"she whispered.

"We need to talk"

"Can't it wait 'til tomorrow?"she turned to sleep.

"It's important"he said and she sighed before sitting up.

There was a very short silence before Karen broke it.

"Well,what do you wanna say?"

"Karen,I-"he started."I'm sorry"

"For what?"

"For being unfair"

"What did you do?"She asked seriously like she just heard he murdered a man.

"I've betrayed you"

"Just tell me!will ya?!"

"I have a daughter. A seven-year-old"

"You...have a daughter?"

"I was gonna tell you but-"

"A-seven-year-old?"

"Ye-ah"he said and she was mute.

"I'm sorry baby"

"We're over!"she said and went to the closet.

He stood up and tried to stop her but she yelled at him angrily. He held her again and she gave him a vicious slap.

"I loved you,trusted you and all you can do is betray my trust?"she said with tears pricked at the corner of her eyes.
