A boy with red dyed hair walked into class this morning.

I looked up, obviously intrigued at the boy. Everyone's eyes immediately shot up at him; their eyes widened and their jaws dropped.

He had red hair.
That instantly made him an offstate. Right?

I became excited and intrigued all into one. Someone else was like me, someone else was an offstate!

I followed his movements as he shuffled towards the teacher. Her eyes widened as she watched the boy walk up to her and mumble some information. She looked disgusted and disappointed which made me chuckle a bit. I examined his outfit, my eyes darting up and down. He wore a black SnapBack backwards, his red hair ruffling through the hole in the front. It appeared he hadn't received his uniform yet, which explained why he was wearing a black t-shirt along with black jeans that had two huge holes revealing his knees.

"Class, this is our new student. Joshua." She smiled, obviously uncomfortable. My eyes glanced back up towards our teacher. She whispered something to him, causing him to begin walking up the isle. My eyes followed him as he made his way up the isle and sit in the seat next to mine.

Of course she put him in the back with me, the offstates, together.

He suddenly looked over at me and smiled. His eyes were a deep mocha brown, reminding me of chocolate. As I took a closer examination I realized he had Gauges in his ears, something Ive always wanted but too scared of the Judgement and pain.

"Take a picture, it'll last longer." He laughed.

My eyes widened as I suddenly realized he was talking to me. I cleared my throat a bit, trying to hide my blushing so much. Great, already known as the weird kid who was already accused of checking the new boy out.

Hoping to avoid embarrassment, I looked back down at my notebook for a minute, staring at all of the doodles I had scribbled down during the lessons i didn't pay attention to.

"I like your drawing." He whispered back, leaning over his desk and pointing to my notebook. I turned my head towards him as his face leaned closer in and off the desk. He glanced up a bit towards the teacher, making sure he wasn't getting into any trouble. My doodles were different, confusing and probably weird to other people. But to Josh, he liked them.

He pointed to one particular doodle in the corner. It was a design of a skeleton and some sort of line going through it vertically, along with two diagonal lines going through across.
"That ones my favorite. It's...different." He whispered, his hands flaing forward as he expressed the word 'different'. I flashed him a smile  and scoffed a little, glancing back and forth between him and the drawings.

"I like your hair." I replied, looking up at him this time. I didn't really mean to say it. It's like for one moment I actually wasn't thinking and it just spilled out. I had no idea how I had the courage to tell him that.
He smiled while placing his books under his chair. He didn't seem bothered about being different, how? "Thanks." His voice was nice. It was soothing to hear and sweet.

"I-I'm Tyler." I had no idea why I was so nervous and anxious. I guess I just didn't want to fuck up the chance of actually gaining a friend who was like me.He smiled again, his hand folding out to shake mine, I shook his quickly, hoping he wouldnt notice how clammy I was. Get it together Tyler!

"Josh, but you already know that." His face lit up a brighter color and I nodded, turning around to stare down at my notebook again, feeling a bit more confident about my doodles.
