"Okay guys, now we need to wait half an hour for our flight, so you have some free time, just don't get lost please" said Mr.Shue after the check-in, counting the kids for probably the billionth time.
Kurt distanced his groupmates, opting for some time with himself, which was basically the plan for the entire trip. Is attempt failed when, while he was sitting alone with his blueberry muffin,a blonde guy sat next to him. He had never seen him before, so he couldn't find any reason for the guy to talk with him. Was his will to stay alone so hard to understand?
"Hey! My name is Chandler! I know your brother, we have some courses together" the boy was now offering him a hand to shake and was looking at Kurt with big blue eyes, as he had seen the most beautiful creature in the universe.
Kurt attempted a lazy smile, with his lips full of crumbles. "I'm Kurt, but you already know"
Chandler laughed and placed his glasses.
"Well" he said "your brother is very cute, but you are much more than him."
"uhm, thanks" replied Kurt, now turning red as a pepper. Noone ever complimented him, not in that way and it was a very pleasant emotion knowing that someone found him cute. But Chandler's gaze was know getting heavy. He didn't stop looking at him, and Kurt didn't know what to do in such situations. Though he was flattered by his constant attention, he was getting annoyed at that niggling boy who didn't seem able to stop complimenting him. He was too polite to walk away, so he bore that behaving, which unfortunately didn't stop after the first day, but kept getting flirtier and more irritating.
The announcement of their incoming departure saved Kurt from sarcastic replies and more compliments.
"I owe you, my saviour" the chestnut haired guy muttered under his breath, now trying to engage a conversation with Finn to avoid Chandler.
"On the plane please don't make noise and take your seats! No matter who's next to you, okay? Let's go" Though Mr. Schue filled them with advice, he didn't seem worried to bring two dozens students across the ocean.
The view outside the window was breathtaking: the movement of the clouds was barely perceptible on a columbia blue sky, like lazy flakes of sugar forced to move away by the summer breeze. Hardly visible was the earth beneath them. The sun was somewhere over there, illuminating everything they were overtaking: the mountains, that now seemed so small compared to the vastity of the sky, the lakes, shining as little jems between the planes.
Kurt started thinking about his place in that immense world. Maybe somewhere there was a place for him, maybe he wouldn't become a professional stage singer, and maybe he wasn't even cut out for it; but he was sure, deep inside, that he could have whatever he wished for. And not by dreaming hard, but by working for it and showing everyone who he really was and what he really wanted. And somewhere, anywhere, someone or someplace was waiting for him.

"Kurt, hey Kurt, we're in Spain" Marley's soft voice waked him.
"What? Did I sleep?" Asked Kurt, confused, unable to control a blatant yawn.
Marley laughed. "Yes, you were sleeping like a baby. We'll arrive in 10 minutes anyway"
All his body hurt, sleeping for hours on a plane wasn't surely the best for his back, and, as soon as he got up, his head started spinning so fast that he had to sit again.
"Dude, is everything okay?" Asked Finn, reaching his step brother to check on him.
"Yes, don't worry, it's just the flight" replied Kurt, half smiling; while everything was slowly stopping to rotate around him.
"Ugh, thank God. You know if something happens to you, Burt is gonna kill me" said Finn with a sigh of relief and offered his arm to Kurt.
"Thank you" he said, leaning on his arm to get up again.
"And here it is, MADRID" said Mr.Shue as they got off the plane, with the brightest smile on his face.
