One last chance

Kurt hoped the sun wouldn't rise, but, as most of his wishes, it couldn't be achieved. And the morning broke on their last day.

He tried to extend time as much as possible, slowly completing his routine; but it wasn't enough.

"Last coffee" Blaine remarked as he sat at Kurt's table, placing his bag next to him.

"Cheers" Kurt smiled sadly, miming a toast.

Not a word came out of their mouths, their eyes said everything, although they kept the only sentence they truly wanted to say to each other. It was too late now, they wasted the time that had been given to them and the only thing they thought they could do was regret. Though there was still a possibility...maybe I could transfer.

Would he do that?

Kurt couldn't sort that sentence out of his head during their journey to the airport. Blaine sat a sit further and the brown haired guy could see his reflection on the window. He didn't look very cheerful too, staring at the view and biting his nails.

Was there any chance that he could like him? That looks he caught...did they mean anything or was it just a fantasy? Quinn said she thought Blaine liked him back, but maybe she just wanted to make him happy. Would he ever have answers?

"Hummel" Blaine called Kurt while they were boarding.

"What?" Kurt turned, hopeful. If something had to happen it was right there, right now.

Blaine started winking madly without breaking eye contact, like he was possessed.

"Anderson, what the fuck?" the taller guy couldn't be more annoyed, what was he trying to do acting like a two-years-old.

"I saved your ass" Blaine said as soon as they boarded. Kurt's eyes were now interrogating him. "Chandler was trying to engage a conversation. I saved your ass doing the wink thing."
What was happening to the old Blaine Anderson, the one that wouldn't be so kind to him, that couldn't hesitate not only not to save him, but to push him into Chandler's arms.

Saying that Kurt was delighted when he found out that Blaine was just a sit behind him was an understatement. And it was mutual.

They talked for two hours straight about their lives, their future, their dreams, discovering slowly a piece of each other that they had never knew and never tried to discover.

Funny, isn't it? Kurt thought. You can acquaintance a person for so long and start to truly know them in so little time.

Their prejudice kept them apart and prevented them to find the other sooner and now it was causing nothing but pain for the both of them.

Blaine thought he could talk with Kurt forever, but he fell asleep, leaving him staring at his porcelain face, visible through the plane sits.

If he just were braver...

But what if he exposed himself like that and Kurt wasn't interested? He didn't show any trace of enthusiasm when he suggested to change schools and he was the only reason he would do it for.

Why would someone as fierce and strong as Kurt even like a coward like him, a person untrue with himself and with the others, someone who betrayed his feelings for acceptance?

The plane landed softly, waking Kurt anyway.

"Well...it's over guys" Mr. Schue exclaimed right before the kids could see their parents again. "Thank you so much for this awesome experience. I'm looking forward to repeat it next year."

Kurt and Blaine exchanged a look. Next year.

They carried their luggage as far as the meeting point, their eyes meeting once again.

"Kurt! Finn! Over there!" Carole ejaculated (I've craved to use this verb for so long), in excitement, pulling her sons into a tight hug.

"I've missed you guys so much" Kurt was searching for Blaine, looking over his stepmother's shoulder but he was nowhere to be seen.

He didn't even say goodbye.
