When Adalia had woken up, she smiled and felt her entire body warm. In a good way.
This is it.
When she got out of bed and stretched a bit, her smile didn't falter one bit. She tried to stop her lips from doing what they want to wash her face, but she couldn't stop. When she finally gained control, she washed up and continued getting ready for school. Everything was making sense again. Everything was falling into place again. Everything felt good again.
This is it.
Adalia felt like she should be running through a field of flowers and soaking up the sun in a stupid pink dress. Somehow, her life just seemed to get better and better. Not only was she in love and content with everything, but Diana even offered to get breakfast tacos with her on the way to school. Adalia couldn't take it anymore and just guffawed.
Diana, clearly confused, asked Adalia, "What's so funny?"
"This. This feels too good to be true," Adalia replied.
Diana, still not really getting it, nodded her head and smiled without her teeth.

8:12am
Adalia stood, leaning against her locker holding a brown bag with two bacon and egg tacos. She was still fine and dandy, completely awake and happy. Diana had let her drive to school herself.
Diana had opened the car door and sat down in the driver's seat quite some time after Adalia had settled into the passenger's. Adalia wasn't paying much mind to Diana. Instead, Adalia was tracing her fingers over the rip in her jeans that exposed a bit of her lower thigh, enjoying the sound of the rain hitting the car's windows. She heard Diana sigh and fall back into her seat. "Adalia," she started. "You want to drive?"
Adalia, of course, had said yes. She was a bit scared since the rain hadn't stopped since it started yesterday, but she felt so alive and well, she knew she'd be okay.
When Caden appeared from around the corner, the smile from earlier that morning grew onto Adalia's face involuntarily. He wrapped his arm around her waist and kissed her gently before pulling away to eye the brown bag.
"What's that?" he asked her as he pulled away from her to open his locker.
"I got you breakfast," she told him. The locker door flung open, scaring Adalia and making her jump back.
"Shit. Sorry." His eyes barely glanced at her before he reached inside his locker to get the books he needed. He normally gives her his full attention. She decided to shake it off.
"It's fine," she said, her smile going from full on out of her control to a bit forced and full of worry. She told herself she didn't have anything to worry about. She looked away from Caden and out into the hall. Her gaze landed on the same guy it always seemed to land on at the most random times. The sad, scary boy. This time his head was hung low and his arm was gripped by the school's principal. She followed the pair with her eyes as they walked further and further from where Adalia and Caden stood.
"Adalia?" She jumped and blinked a few times before she turned back to face Caden.
"You okay?" he asked her, not really looking at her.
"Yes. Yeah, of course," she said it like she was guilty which made her feel actually guilty. Why? She did not know. "Here." She handed him the bag by somehow throwing it at him.
