The engineer and the Mechanic

New recruits

I was making my way to the star ship enterprise I'm so excited ..a new job doing what I love I got a lot of bulling in school saying that a girl can't become a mechanic but I didn't let it stop me ..I stood on the boarding dock a bag of nerves
"Ms.maguire I presume?"
"Yep that's me...you are?"
"I'm captain of this fine ship you can call me Jim follow me I'll show you to engineering"
"O..ok" I stuttered
"You will be under Mr.Scott or Scotty as we all call him he'll show you around"
"Ok" we walked into engineering only to hear a man with a thick Scottish accent swearing followed by a bang he walked out rubbing his head
"OW! Bloady bastard!"
"Mr.scott"
"Oh sorry Capin I didn't ear ya come en"
"Mr.scott this is Ms.Maguire our new mechanic"
"Ah Nice ta meet ya lassie" he shook my hand his hands were rough and covered in oil to anybody else it would be disquieting to me it was a sign that he was hard working I found it intriging
"Are you alright I heard a bang"
"Aye just hit ma head on a pipe bloody harts" he continued to rub his head
"Alright well Scotty will show you around the ship I'll see you later" the captain waved then disappeared out the hall
"What's your name lassie?"
"Oh it's Dayna but my family calls me Dee I would say so do my friends but I don't have any"
"Alright well come on I'll show ya round"
"Ok" we walked out and I followed him like a lost puppy clenching on to my bag
"Aye better show ya your chambers so you can unload those bags"
"Yea that's a good idea" he showed me to a bare room just a bed and a table with two chairs along with a bathroom
"Here ya are where are the rest of yar bags I'll get em for ya"
"Eh this is all of them"
"What?! But ya only have two"
"Yea I ..I eh..I don't have a lot of stuff.."
"Ah ok I understand well get settled in if ya need anything ma room is down there to the left alright"
"Yep thanks Mr.scott"
"Scotty lassie call me Scotty "
"Oh thanks ..Scotty"
"No problem lass I'll see you later then"
"Eh ..yea " he walked out and I unpacked my clothes into the wardrobe when there was a knock at the door
"Come in" the door opened and on walked the captain
"Oh hello captain what can I do for ya"
"I just came here to give you your uniform I look forward to have you working with us Dayna"
"Just as I'm looking forward to working for you sir"
"I trust Scotty was nice to you"
"Oh yes he seems very nice"
"Hmm..he usually dosnt take to new comers very well must like you"
"Sorry sir?"
"Scotty ...he's an odd fella he decides if he likes someone within the first 10seconds and if he dosnt like you well you better stay out of his way"
"How do you know he likes me?"
"Well I don't I just presume he does "
"..ok..eh thanks sir .."
"Well I'll leave you to it there's food going in the dinning hall of you want something before bed"
"I could go for something to eat Actully"
"Alright well I'll see you later then"
"Yep " he walks out and I decide to go get something to eat I made my way to the dinning hall where I saw Scotty I decided to sit next to him with a plate full of food
"Hi Scotty"
"Oh hello lass how ya settling in?"
"Yea it's ok I'm looking forward to work tomorrow finally get to do what I love"
"Have ya always wanted to be a mechanic?"
"Yea ever since I was a little girl I knew it was what I wanted ...I got bullied a lot as a kid by boys telling me that a mechanic was a boys job not a girls"
"Ah don't mind em lass I'm sure yar gonna be a great mechanic "
"Yea and plus you'll help me aswell .." I began to eat my dinner and he did the same
"It's quiet around here"
"It's late ya should see it durin the day"
"Ah I see..." I took a drink of water when
"So lass do ya have a strong laddie at your side?" I choked on the water and coughed my answer
"What..*coughs* oh no no no *coughs* I don't have a boyfriend ..never had " I was hitting my chest trying to calm down the cough
"Ah I see ...strange"
"How so?"
"Well ya happen to be a very pretty lassie I'm suprised all the lads don't be banging down the door"
"Haha ..yea I have a unsual taste in men.."
"Well I can see the capin was eyeing you up" he sarcastically takes a drink of scotch and gulps it loudly
"The captain? He's not really my type.."
"The Capin!? What's not to like he's handsome he's young ,dashing ,charismatic ,charming"
"Does Mr.scott have a man crush on the capin?" I joke
"Haha nah lass I'm just sayin"
"I dunno as I said my taste in men is ..unusual to say the least.. What about you what's your taste in women like "
"Eh...same as you ...unsual"
"I see ...well I should be off to bed ..first day tomorrow.."
"Ok lass g'night"
"Goodnight Mr..I mean Scotty"
He smiled at me then I continued back to my chambers I only know two people on this huge ship I really hope I get to know the rest of the crew ...Scottys nice isn't he? I can't wait to be working fixing engines and just ..sorry I really do love all that stuff anyways I walked into my chambers and got changed into night wear I climbed into bed and eventually fell asleep not a bad first day I suppose well tomorrow will be better I know it will...
