I've graduated top of my class in engineering and am now the new mechanic on the star ship enterprise I'm working alongside MR.Scott or as he likes to be called Scotty he's the head engineer and well this is my story of the struggle I have each day
\\~/// time skip two days, three days before Christmas/\//\\\| I was at my desk doing Scottys present I was so focused on it I never heard someone come up behind me "Alrigh lass?" "Scotty! Eh ..yea everything's fine better than fine" I quickly scattered papers over it to hide it "What are you doing ?" He looked over my chair "Eh..paper work.." "...Ok well I came to give you this it arrived for you this morning " he handed me a letter "Oh thanks" I ripped it open and took out the letter I slowly read it "What is it lass" "It's eh...it's a memorial service for my friend ...it's in a weeks time...it's been 9 years already" "Oh ...it's alrigh lass " he patted me shoulder "It was my fault Scotty if it wasn't for me she'd still be alive" "Don't say that lass don't blame yourself " "Yea" but it was if it wasn't for me then Maia would still be alive if I just spoke up about Mr.Grey then she wouldn't have been kidnapped or shot ... "I better get back to work this paper work isn't going to do itself" "Alrigh I'll see ya later" he kissed my forehead then went on his way I sighed and looked at the invitation again should I go? It was my fault I shouldn't show my face ... "Dayna?" "Uhura! Jesus you scared me what is it?" "I was wondering if you picked out a dress for the Christmas ball " "Dress? Christmas ball? What are you talking about?" "You don't know? There's a big party on at Christmas on the ship it's like tradition and since I havnt picked out a dress yet I was wondering if you have" "I've never worn a dress in my life" "That's great then we can go shopping together!" "Eh...ok..." "Great !! Let's go now" "I kinda have work to do" "It's fine I'll tell Scotty I'm borrowing you for a few hours" "Emm...ok" she grabbed my wrist and dragged me to Scotty who was under a panel "Scotty?" He quickly came out and stood up "What can I do for ya" "Nothing I just came to say I'm borrowing your girlfriend for a few hours" "Eh..for what?" "We're going dress shopping" I said sarcastically while rolling my eyes "Come on I'll make her look pretty for ya Scotty" she nudged him "She's pretty enough" Scotty looked at me I blushed an looked at the ground "Ugh enough with the mushy stuff let's get going !" She grabbed my wrist again and dragged me away before long we were in a dress shop I was siting down and Uhura kept coming out wearing different dresses asking me my opinion "This one?" "No" "This?" "Ew!" "Ok this?" "If your homeless" "Ok this is the last one so be nice" she slowly walked out wearing a red gown "That's the one" I smiled "Yay! Now you" "Huh?" "I'll pick out a few and you go in the dressing room " I walked in and closed the door she threw in a couple of dresses there was one yellow and one orange I didn't like either but then she threw over a purple gown and I had to try it one slowly slid on the dress and called out to Uhura "Ok don't judge me for this " "Just come out will ya" I slowly opened the door and walked out "Oh my god ..." Her mouth hung open "I ...I like this one ..." "You look fantastic ...I'm nearly jealous" "Stop it ...come on let's pay" I took the dress off and got changed back into my own clothes then we paid for our dresses and walked back to the ship I made my way to my chambers and hung up the dress I smiled at it then I remembered "Scottys present !!" I ran back to engineering and looked at my desk it was just the way I left it I sighed in relief and sat back down I continued on with his gift until I heard someone come up behind me I quickly shuffled papers over it to hide it "Enjoy shopping lass?" "Oh yea eh ...I got a purple dress and Uhura got a red one ...I'm not very good at clothes shopping it was never really my fortae" "I could tell .." He looked like he was thinking of something "What's on your mind?" I stood up and faced him "Ets nothan..." "Scotty ...tell me " my voice now stern "E...earlier ..Uhura ..called you ..m..my girlfriend .." He blushed and looked at the floor "So?" I smiled "W...well I never asked you..." "Why don't you?" I smiled forcing him to look at me "..." "There's no one around now so go for it.." "No here isn't romantic enough I know when to ask ya" "Ok" I smiled and hugged him he rubbed my back and kissed my cheek "I love ya" "I love you too ...even if you arnt my boyfriend" I joked he chuckled a bit then we broke away when the bell went for the end of the day I sighed in relief then realised I still have to finish Scottys present he went on his way and I took the present back to my chambers to finish it , it was the early hours of the morning when I finished I picked it up and looked at it "Perfect" I whispered I had an old frame liying around so I put in that I smiled and hid it in the closet I'll wrap it tomorrow I got changed into night wear and collapsed into bed I was exhausted and immediately fell asleep when my head hit the pillow ------------------------------ Hey everyone I just wanted to show you this "fantastic" dress I was describing above
