The engineer and the Mechanic

A long .....loooong week finally passed and bones gave me the okay to leave the medbay and rest in my chambers , I went straight to the dinning hall and stuffed my face with all sorts of food
"You didn't tell me you were out !!!!" Uhura rushed in and sat beside me smiling
"Hello to you too" I sniggered
She hugged me lightly and playfully pushed my shoulder
"I was worried about you , Scotty was a wreck , but I heard the captain changed the rules !"
"Yea I know" after an hour of catching up I bid her goodbye and set off for my chambers when I felt sick again , bones said this would happen and it'd pass soon to my relief I found a toilet and tossed my cookies
I arrived at my chambers and unlocked the door , inside the walls were painted a light shade of purple , bunches of flowers in vases along with get well cards I smiled and took a shower , I changed into my lounge wear I lay down in my bed and happily sighed
Knock knock knock
"Come in" I sat up
Scotty walked in and smiled
"Heya lass how ya feelin?"
"Pretty good , great now you're here" I held out my arms for a hug which he gladly accepted , he cuddled into me and kissed my temple
"I missed you" I nuzzled into his chest
"I missed ye too lass"
The night passed and we fell asleep in eachothers arms when I woke up feeling sick I quickly looked at my clock before rushing into the bathroom
"7:30am"
I groaned after puking again , I brushed my teeth and climbed back into bed
I can't wait for this sickness to pass
"Ye alright lass?" Scotty asked still half asleep
"Yea I'm fine " I muttered going back to sleep

"What do you want ding dong ?"
"Ms we wanted to give you this "
It was a get well soon card
"Well thank you ding dong now BACK TO WORK!"
"Yes ma'am !" They yelled and ran off I chuckled and spun around back faving my desk continuing my paperwork
I've been back at work for a whole week and it's great! I'm so glad to be back at work doing what I love ,with the person I love ! Life is good
Annnnnd then I felt sick again , I rushed to the toilet
'Should it not be better by now ?' I thought
"It's fine " I muttered to myself cleaning myself up at the sink and flushing the toilet I went back into engineering and continued to work
I sat back on my chair and just took in my surroundings I remember the first time I was here like it was yesterday , how happy I felt
Flashback ///
Your the new mechanic ?" They looked me up and down
"Yea is there a problem?"
"Your a girl.."
"So? "
"Well anyway we don't need you were close to fixing it"
"If you didn't need me then Mr.scott wouldn't have sent me down here to help you two ding dongs so move aside junior let someone who knows what she's doing take charge" they stood up and stepped back I crouched down and looked at the damage
"It needs a new fuming tube it's an easy fix pass me that monkey rench" they did and within 5 minutes the compactor was up and running
"There see an easy fix" I threw the monkey rench back at them they stood there staring at me open mouth
"What?"
"How did you do that?"
"Do what?"
"Fix it we've been trying to fix that for three hours"
"I know what I'm doing ding dong" I laughed
End of flashback //
I smiled at the memory , I have so many on this ship , bad , good , happy , sad .....my whole life is now on this ship .....this is where I'm truly happy , it took a lot of hardship to get what I wanted hours upon hours of studying the different types of mechanics but look where it got me
I wouldn't change it for the world , this is my home and these people are like my family uhura being my sister of course ....
I look back at my past of the person I used to be , I would have let Maia down if I didn't change myself , I become that thing because I couldn't see anything getting better , but it does it may not be tomorrow or next week or even next year but it will get better
You just have to stay strong and keep moving forward ...
