Update 10/5/20: So, Authors Note; I decided to delete some things from Part 6 (now Part 5) and a whole almost sex scene from part 7 (now part 6) in order to make this book a bit more tasteful.

My dad got home from London that Wednesday. We all went to visit Mrs. Anderson in the hospital. Carter didn't stop talking to her about how much of a great guy I was, and how thankful he was that we had taken him in for a while.
It seemed like she got worse. Her eyes were sunken into her head a little, her voice was raspy, and her skin had a slightly blueish hue to it. She was talking a little, but you could barely hear it. You could tell she was in pain. With an expiration date of three months on her head to live, the wide purple circles around her eyes proved she was fighting.
Later that night, I was snuggled into Carters chest listening to his heartbeat.
"So I kind of want to tell Jack and Amy about us." I said.
"Really?" Carter said looking down at me with a smile on his face.
"Yeah." I replied smiling back. "What do I tell them? I mean what are we exactly?" I wondered out loud.
"Well...what do you want to be?" He answered with a question.
"Hmmm." I thought. "Well were already going to start dating." I pointed out.
"True..." He replied. He sounded like he was thinking with me. "I have everything planned and ready for Friday."
"Well, I guess we can mark ourselves as boyfriends now." I shrugged.
Carters heart jumped a little and then sped up a bit. Y-yeah." He stuttered. "C-cool." His attempt at seeming nonchalant about it wasn't working.
I laughed. "Do you like the sound of that? I mean, you seem like you're trying to sound like it's no big deal. I thought you would be more excited, you know, me being your boyfriend and all." His heart skipped again and pounded.
"Yeah actually, I like it a lot." He said all matter-o-fact like.
"Well," I yawned. "Goodnight Carter."
"Goodnight babe-er, uh, I mean..."
I kissed the base of his throat and yawned again. "I like it." I whispered. And with that I drifted off to the sound of the gentle thrum.
Thursday afternoon, Jack, Amy, Carter and I were all hanging out at lunch.
I cleared my throat. "I uh, have something to tell you guys." I swallowed hard. "Why don't you guys come over after school?"
"Sure!" said Amy. She looked so tired, yet she had so much energy.
"No problem dude." Jack clapped my back.
They showed up at around 2:30, a half an hour after school let out. I made sure the house was empty again, even though I knew my mom and dad were working.
I pulled Carter into the kitchen to "help" me get drinks. My pulse was racing and my heart sat in my throat.
"I'm nervous." I said to Carter shakily. I looked at him and he wrapped his arms around me.
"You don't have to tell them if you don't want to." He whispered.
"Of course I want to tell them!" I said pushing away from him.
