With his eyebrows furrowed, he searched the back of my head. When he touched a spot in the center I winced.

He stood and rummaged through the freezer. A bag of frozen peas my mom had just bought appeared.

"Hungry?" I asked sarcastically.

Carter cracked his hard, concentrated face with a small smile. Grabbing a hand towel from the handle on the oven, he wrapped the peas in the towel and sat next to me on the floor. His knee brushed against mine as he crossed his legs. Why was I noticing these things?

Gently he placed a hand on my shoulder and raised the peas to the back of my head.

"You uh, hit your head pretty hard." He said softly.

"I noticed." I snapped harshly.

I caught his blush before he could look away. The hand on my shoulder dropped, but not once did he remove the bag from my head.

A few minutes later, I was starting to stand when Carter pulled me down and stood up before me.

"What the fuck?" I shouted before I realized his hand was outstretched ready to help me up. My face got hot again.

"What the hell." I thought

My fingers brushed his as I reached up shooting little sparks against my fingertips. I grasped his bare wrist, and he grabbed mine also, sending the electricity in waves.

He pulled me to my feet with little effort. Our faces were suddenly inches apart. He had one hand behind my back, and the other still held mine. We stared into each other's eyes for a few moments. His icy blue eyes were so mesmerizing and the air around us seemed to freeze. I swallowed nervously, and he did the same.  It suddenly dawned on me that I was in his arms, and he was holding me. I blushed and put my hands on his chest and carefully pushed him away.

He looked a bit stunned. I told him to chill where he was. He backed away farther and hopped up and sat on the counter. I ran downstairs and stopped to allow my face to cool. When it did, I gathered the sleeping bag into my arms and ran up the basement stairs again.

"Stay." I said as I passed Carter. Quarter of the way up the stairs to my room, my socked foot slipped on the newly polished hard wood and my knee slammed into the stair above.

I practically heard Carters head whip up from moving so fast. I glanced behind me, able to see Carter in the kitchen. His swinging feet had stopped and his body was tensed.

"I'm ok." I said to him from across the room. His body visibly relaxed.

I threw the giant thing onto my bed where all the other stuff was and, headed back downstairs.

Carter was staring down at his hands, not aware I had just walked in.

I walked toward him and got onto my knees.

He jumped and then squirmed because of the awkward position I was in. I batted his legs to the side and opened the cabinet beneath him.

I reached all the way in the back while I smirked mischievously. Finally I found what I was looking for.

I closed the cabinet and filled the pot with water, "Oh look a full moon" I said as I looked out the window above the sink. I set the pot on the stove and turned the electric heat on high.

"You hungry?" I asked seriously as I pulled a box of macaroni and cheese from the pantry.

Almost as if answering me itself, his stomach grumbled. He clutched and arm over his stomach and blushed. Finally, someone other than me was turning red.

I couldn't help but giggle. "Don't worry man," I clapped him on the back "It happens to all of us."

We ended up eating the whole box within minutes. We were cleaning up as my mom walked through the door, with more groceries in tow.

"Mom," I said, "It's almost two." "I know" she replied the bags were visible under her eyes.

"I'll put them away." I sighed and took the groceries. She climbed the stairs without another word.

The rest of the groceries went away, eggs, milk, pancake mix, bacon and juice. There were two things left.

I glanced at Carter, the boxes of pasta, and then Carter again.

"Err...Carter?" He looked up from his hands.

"Y-yeah?" He asked as he watched my eye the pasta nervously.

I blushed embarrassed and looked down. "Can you err...put the pasta up there? For me?"

He blinked a few times and jumped up. He picked up the pasta and reached up to the top shelf in the pantry.

My jaw slacked as he reached up. His shirt lifted, exposing light abs, and hints of slightly defined V-lines.

I couldn't stop gaping, even after his shirt went back down. After a few seconds I shook my head and closed my mouth.

"I'm going to bed." I announced as I shook my head again.

I trudged up the stairs with Carter following behind; I finally started to feel exhausted.

I helped carter to set out a few comforters to help cushion the cold hard floor.

I shed my jeans, shut off the light, and crawled into bed. I watched carter as the white light filtered in through my window. He took off his jeans and laid them on top of his suitcase. He lifted his shirt off and did the same thing with it.

He stood in green boxers, his pale skin illuminated by the light. He turned; his blue eyes an even icier blue than before.

"Goodnight Avery" He said as he climbed into the sleeping bag.

"Night." I whispered in reply, and fell asleep right away.
