Remembering what had happened that night was probably worse than not knowing at all.
But I've decided to take this as a sign. Maybe, just maybe this happened for a reason. Him basically rejecting me was a sign that I should move on and that's exactly what I'm going to do.
I hurried down the stairs, kissing my mom on the cheek and ignoring her curious gaze before heading out the door shouting a quick goodbye.
Why am I in a rush? Especially on a Monday morning? Well Jordan called this morning asking me if I wanted to grab a quick bite before heading to school.
As I stepped outside a slick red car pulled up, Jordan in the driver's seat sporting a leather jacket with a simple white tee underneath.
He smiled widely at me as I approached the car. I returned his smile as he got out to open the passenger's door for me. Such a gentleman.
I blushed slightly as he bowed holding the door open, "My lady."
He chuckled at my reaction which only caused the blush to deepen.
He blared Twenty Øne Piløts' car radio as he drove. I muttered the lyrics under my breath as I watched the blurring trees pass by.
We arrived quickly and headed inside. Jordan ordered us some pancakes and orange juice, my favorite.
We sat at the table waiting on our server to bring the food. I sat there awkwardly as Jordan openly stared at me with a smile on his face.
I coughed in an attempt to let him know he was making me feel uncomfortable but he only smiled more broadcasting his dimples.
The waitress finally came placing our pancakes in front of us. I licked my lips at the sight as the waitress flirted with Jordan. Typical. It probably should have bothered me but food comes first.
I dug into my pancakes, the heavenly taste satisfying to my empty stomach. I notice the waitress slip Jordan her number on a napkin and him tuck it under his plate rolling his eyes.
We ate in a comfortable silence enjoying our meals.
Well that's until Jordan decided to bring up the one thing I wanted to forget.
"So about the party, I really don't remember what happened," He said avoiding eye contact.
Was he lying? Why won't he look me in the eyes?
I raised a brow promoting him to continue, "Alex told me what happened though, are you okay?" He asked slowly.
I forced a smile pretending him bringing this up wasn't causing the memories of that night to flood back into my mind like a rushing wave. The shots, the guy's hands all over me, the blood, the tears, the kiss.....
"I'm fine but definitely not planning on getting drunk anytime soon." I forced a laugh and he joined in, relief washing over his features.
He believed me.
Faking smiles is something I've come to master.
Honestly I don't even know when I'm not faking a smile, it had became something I had to master a few years back.
When the incident happened.
