"I hope one day you'll be as happy as you pretend to be." ~Gnash♡

♡♡♡

It's been a week since my breakfast with Jordan.

The rest of the week was as normal as it could get. I've been pretty busy working on my mid term projects so I haven't seen much of Jordan or anyone at all.

It was now Monday morning and I had one last project assignment to receive for my health class.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be the typical baby project which I am not excited for. I'm most likely going to be paired with a dude that will make me do all the work.

I sighed as I took my seat awaiting the teacher's arrival.

After my conversation with Jordan last week, my mind keeps wandering back to those days. The days I'm glad I no longer have to call my life.

My mom and I never talk about it. About him. We pretend that we've always lived this fairy tale life with no problems and a happy single parent family.

But we didn't.

And I can't.

I can't pretend that what happened in my past doesn't hunt me everyday, that the scars aren't a constant reminder.

But I try.

I cover up the scars by wearing long sleeves to school. Of course I can't wear them all the time so when I happen to wear a tank top I usually use my concealer to cover the scars.

As for the nightmares...

A door slamming shut snaps me out of my daze. Thankfully.

I watched as the teacher, Mrs Williams walks into the classroom, a scowl on her face and Alex following behind.

"Sorry about being late class I was meeting with the principal." She rolled her eyes.

I couldn't help but chuckle at that. Yup, no wonder she's in a bad mode. No one, and I mean no one, likes the principal.

"Alex have a seat." She ordered as she pulled out her roll and began going it over ensuring no one skipped.

I lazily looked over at Alex as he sat next to Amber. Her hand immediately making their way dangerously close to his genitals.

"Okay class, you know how this goes." Mrs Williams announced as she began calling out names and students began moving around.

"Joe and Chloe"

Cute.

I may not be the most observant person but anyone can see the way he looks at her.

He looks at her as if she puts the sun in the sky every morning.

Hopefully he takes advantage of this opportunity being her partner.

"Tyler and Josh"

Weird. Two guys? That's gonna be tough. I chuckled at the expression on both of their faces.

"Amber and Chad"

Weirder.

"Zoe and Joey"

"Alex and Lexi"

Wait what?

No. No. No.

This isn't some chick flick why is this happening! Why me!

Alex didn't make a move and neither did I. Mrs Williams continued calling out the names obviously unaware of the fact that neither of us had moved.

The bell rung signaling the end of class and everyone began packing up, taking a doll on their way out with their partners.

I sat silently in my seat as Alex walked up the teacher and began discussing something before he walked out heading to his next class.

Mrs Williams then summoned me to her desk. I grabbed my backback and slowly walked toward her desk.

"Lexi, I'm aware of you doing this project solo in the past," she started looking at me pointedly.

I bit the inside of my cheeks in guilt. How'd she find out?

"I do not approve of that. I know you're just trying to get a good grade and it's hard to do that with all your past partners."

I nodded in agreement. At least I wasn't in trouble.

"So I have paired you with Alex Collins. He's one of the school's top students so I am sure there aren't going to be any problems in teamwork here. Am I right?" She asked.

I nodded again and she dismissed me, handing me a doll on my way out. I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that I was partners with Alex yet alone that he's one of the school's top students.

Alex Collins is secretly a nerd.

Who would've thought.

♡♡♡

The rest of the day was uneventful. Usual boring classes. I also ate lunch on the school's roof for a change.

I haven't been up there since those days.

I would go up there to think, to pretend my life was normal, for an escape.

It was now the end of the day and I had to take the bus home.

Mia wasn't at school today, and obviously if she wasn't here Parker wouldn't be either. So no ride home.

As for River, well I didn't see his car so maybe he left early.

I started my walk towards the bus stop when a car pulled beside me. I turned expecting to see Jordan but to my surprise it was Alex.

My heart beat sped up despite my efforts to not be affected by what was happening.

He leaned over to the passenger's door to open it.

I just stood there. Confused.

He rose a brow at me before removing his shades and asking "Are you gonna just stand there all day or are you getting in?"

"I'm starting to think this girl is incapable of speaking." A new voice added.

It was Amber.

And she was seated in the back.

Amber never sits in the back.

I gulped audibly. This isn't going to end well.
