I awoke to the loud banging at my door.
"Lili, Love, are you up?"
It was Emilie, my beautiful caretaker that I have been living with for most of my life. Emilie was married to a bread-baker, his name was Darren, who was just as kind to me. Emilie was not my mother and neither was Darren my father. My actual mother had died when I was just a small, naïve little girl. My father was named Joseneph the II. He was the king of our small town. So yes, I am a princess. The whole 'princess' thing made me uncomfortable because I could never be treated normally. Emilie and Darren were a couple and Emilie was unable to have children. So this was the "perfect couple" to give me to when my father didn't want me around anymore. Emilie has always told me to not to grow to hate my father. She says that he is just in pain and sorrow and he doesn't mean me any harm. Darren, on the other hand, despises him. This topic was something Emilie and Darren argued about when I was younger."Yes, Emilie, I'm getting dressed now. Is something wrong?" I asked.
"We need to have a word."
Emilie's usual cheerful voice was flat and serious. Something was up.
I hurried up and got changed into a long brown dress. My hair was slightly messy and I knew if Emilie was in a mood, she would definitely notice. I brushed my light brown-blonde hair and put it into a braid. When I came downstairs. Darren and Emilie were already talking. They stopped when I entered the dining room.
"Hello, Lili."
"Hi Emilie." Emile flinched. I knew that she hated me calling her by her first name. But I couldn't call her 'mother' or 'mum' for that matter.
"Why don't you sit down, honey." Darren said.
I pulled a wooden chair out from the table and sat down.
"You're found to have to tell me what's going on sooner or later because you guys are driving me insane with this weird silence shit."
"Lili!" Emilie said, scolding me as if I was a young child.
"Oh, sorry."
"We think it's time to see your father again, Lili." Darren said, sighing. You could really tell he hated saying this.
"What? You hate him. Why would you send me to him?"
"Lili!"
I looked at Emilie.
"Whaaaaat?"
"You can't say that- he's our King!" Emilie said through a hushed tone.
"King or not, you're allowed to have some concept of an opinion of him."
Emilie sighed and smiled sadly.
"You always were so direct; even when you were a little girl." Emilie looked at me and said, "You know what? If I had a little girl that I hadn't seen for a very long time, I would really want to see her too." Her sad smile had returned once again. I hated seeing Emilie sad, but I also didn't like my father. But as much as I didn't like my dad, I couldn't bare looking into Emilie's sad dark brown eyes for much longer.
I sighed. "Fine."
"You'll go?" Darren looked startled.
"Yes, Darren."
Darren looked relieved and he told Emilie what I had said. Emilie looked sadly into the distance.
"He woofd yuc tooooo gooou wyuhdaio musti." Emilie mumbled.
"Sorry, what was that?"
"He wants you to arrive without us."
"Okay.... Why?"
"I don't know, Lili!"
I softened at Emilie's sad tone. "I'm sorry Emilie. I know this is hard for you. I have to go though. Besides, it's not going to be forever. It's just one day."
"Sorry, love. I know but I will miss you."
"I will too, sweetheart." Darren said to me.
"I will miss both of you. Can I ride Spirit there?"
Spirit was my Palomino horse. I've had here for years.
"I suppose so. He didn't say you couldn't."
I said my goodbyes and got on Spirit and went to leave.
"LILI! WAIT!"
"What?" I turned Spirit around and faced my house.
Emilie had tears in her eyes.
"I'm sorry, it's nothing".
I pretended to leave and turned around when they couldn't see me.
Emilie was sobbing.
"We've made a huge mistake!" Was all she said.
I made Spirit leave. I couldn't stand to watch them cry without myself crying. With that, I left.-------------------------
760 words?! That's a freakin' record! With camp and stuff it's been really hard to get enough time to write. So again, so so sorry for the late chapter. I hope you guys enjoyed this!
