"Mark is pretty great, isn't he?" My mom cooed over breakfast on Sunday. I couldn't help but roll my eyes in utter annoyance. The bookstore didn't open until 11:00 that morning, so my mom had taken me out to breakfast.
Apparently all she had on the mind was Mark. Which was nothing new. She had been talking about him for days now. I think that's about the 25th time she's said that.
"Yes, mom, he's completely fantastic." I muttered monotonously, pushing my eggs around on my plate. I heard my mom sigh from the other end of the table.
"I'm sorry, Sadie. I just really like this guy." My mom said, a sappy smile spreading across her face.
Yeah, tell me something I don't know. The mind in my voice retorted, but I kept the words to myself.
"It's okay." I answered, my voice gaining no energy from the last time I spoke.
"Let's talk about you." My mom suggested. "How's Dallas?"
I shot up in my seat, pretending to suddenly be interested by her words.
"Actually, I loved talking about Mark." I chirped, and my mother just rolled her eyes before giving me a reprimanding glance.
"Come on, sweetie. I tell you about my life, talk to me about yours."
"Not much to say, mom." I replied, taking a sip of my coffee. "Dallas and I made up, and Cole still hasn't lost interest, which is nice."
"Of course he hasn't." My mom said, cutting into her pancakes. "Your a wonderful girl."
"Well thanks, but some people don't seem to agree."
"Is this about the whole Dallas friend zapped thing?"
"You mean being friend zoned?" I asked, biting away a laugh.
"Yes, that thing. Sadie, just because Dallas doesn't look at you that way now, doesn't mean it won't happen."
"Mom, why do you care so much anyways?" I questioned, giving her a curious look. She looked down in thought before answering.
"Because Dallas is the only boy I've meet who I know is good enough for my baby girl."
I smiled before taking the last bite of my breakfast.
At least I knew my mom was there for me.

"Cole, give it back!" I whined, trying to grab a stack of Monopoly money from his hands with no success.
"Sadie, you landed on Boardwalk, which I've purchased, which has a house on it. Rules say you must pay up." He slapped the stack of bucks against his hands, and I immaturely started pouting.
"Screw the rules." I mumbled, and Cole laughed, taking the money for himself.
"Sorry, sunshine. Rules were created for a reason." He started counting his money, which was easily twice as much the amount I had, and I groaned. I grumbled for a few more seconds before refocusing on the game.
It wasn't twenty more minutes before I was completely bankrupt. Meaning something completely horrible.
Cole had won. I managed to get myself to look at him, and the smirk on his face was unbearable.
I growled before grabbing a pillow and throwing it at his face. Being as though he wasn't expecting it, he took it head on. I started giggling when I realized he had gotten up from his spot on the couch and was walking towards me. I screeched, getting up to run away, but he lunged, grabbing me around the waist. My shrieks were turning into laughter as he picked me up, throwing me over his shoulder. He started carry me around the living room.
