As I sat on that bed, staring at the sleeping Wonwoo beside me, I realized just how wonderful love works.
It connects two destined people from different worlds, different walks of life. I opened the bedside drawer and get my old journal.
I read entry after entry. I let out a smile unknowingly. It was wonderful to look back at the long journey we’ve been through together.
On my 26th birthday, Wonwoo proposed to me. I could still remember it clearly, like a scene from a movie.
We were on the shore, hands locked together. We watched the sunset painted the sky blood red in all its glory. He held my hand and I held his. I looked at his face and it was drowned in screaming colors.
He was the most wonderful person I’ve ever met.
Then he stopped walking, stared at me and held both my hands. I stared back and looked at him straight in the eyes as if I can see the whole galaxy within it.
Then he bent down on one knee, eyes still fixed on mine. Seeing him that way makes me shed tears.
I’ve always looked up at him, not because he’s taller than me but because he was everything I could ever dream of.
He was my dream, a star that I kept wishing for. Now, he’s kneeling before me. I looked down at him. The star I was yearning for came down from the heavens.
“People say forever doesn’t exist but who cares about forever when we could live for today and hope for tomorrow,” he said to me. It was a line from a book that I wrote.I looked at him and continued the line. “Forever doesn’t mean as long as time exist. No one knows how long time will live. Forever means as long as the love exist,” I replied.
“As long as love exists,” he replied.
Then a song played. I don’t where it came from but it just played. Say Yes by Seventeen.
“I don’t know how to say the right words to ask you but . . .” he started then pulled out a ring from his pocket.
“What if I asked you . . ."
“Would you say yes?” he asked.
I could still remember that scene. It was both poetically and literally romantic. I looked at the ring in my hand. I smiled as I remember how he hugged me tight when I said yes.
I closed my journal and put it back in the drawer. A warm hand hugged me from the back. His chin rested on my shoulder and his warm breath touched my neck.
I turned and looked at him. Looking at him was like the first time. He was wonderful. He was my epitome of perfection. He was full of wonder, beauty and everything in between.
He pressed his forehead into mine. Whenever he does so, I could see his eyes in an angle that the camera never caught. He was more than just Wonwoo. He was more than just him.
He was Wonwoo and more.
And he was my Wonwoo.
