I stood on the balcony, looking at sharp rocks far below and the waves crashing and breaking into it.

I looked back into the room and saw him emerge from the bathroom, drying his hair with a towel. He comes to me and put one arm around me.

“Like waves,” he said.

“Like waves,” I replied.

We knew we’ll be together till the very end. Although we both can’t see what lies beyond the horizon, we knew that like waves, a part of us will always remain in each other.

“Happy first anniversary, love” he said and gave me a letter.

“Happy first anniversary too, love,” I replied and gave him a letter too.

We opened the letter together and smiled when we found out that we wrote the exact same thing.

For the way you changed my plans,
For being the perfect distraction,
For the way you took the idea that I have
Of everything that I wanted to have
And made me see, there was something missing,

For the ending of my first begin,
For the rare and unexpected friend,
For the way you’re something that I’d never choose,
And at the same time something I don’t want to lose,
And never want to be without ever again,

You’re the best thing I never knew I needed,
So when you were here, I had no idea
That you’re the best thing I never knew I needed
So now it’s so clear
I need you here
Always

My accidental happily ever after
The way you smile and how you comfort me with your laughter
I must admit you were not a part of my book
But now if you open it up and take a look
You’re the beginning and the end of every chapter

You’re the best thing, I never knew I needed.

It was from our favorite English song. I stared at him, face basked in dark colors.

Just like a painter to his masterpiece. Just before the sun completely set into the horizon, leaving the last traces of light, he leaned forward and pressed his lips into mine.

Ours was a wonderful love story. A book. Each page as wonderful as the one before.

A story of how two different worlds colliding to create one perfect world united by two hearts beating as one.

This is my story.

This is his story.

This is how I married my bias.
