A week has passed. It's Friday again. Update on what has been going on : Nayla found her absolute crush, Justin. He's a football player of course (I mean that's the kind she likes) and she's been stalking him like mad, pulling me along with her. Teresa on the other hand has been her usual "I don't give a damn about anything" self while Tori and Tanner had been nothing but distant. Tori's always quiet around Tanner and avoids eye contact with me too. Does she hate me because Tanner rejected her? Nah can't be right?
Lastly, for me, things have been going great you know? Tanner's constant heart fluttering teases, mom and dad's continuous fighting. How could I ask for more? I'm just kidding. It's the worst. I tried asking them to stop fighting and be nice to each other for once, they said I won't understand anything. I tried to make them talk it out, yet they just walked away. Nothing works and it really frustrates me. I don't eat dinner at the dining room anymore. I was done seeing them argue and fight all the time.
"Earth to Kathleen!" Tanner shouted as he waves his hands in front of my face.
"Wha... What?" I was zoning out. I've been doing that a lot recently. Tanner sighs really loudly.
"As I've said, why don't you try have dinner tonight with your mom and dad? You said you want them to stop right? You said you would help." I rolled my eyes mentally. I DID say that.
"But at this point I don't know if I can anymore..." I trailed off. He takes my hands in his and smiles, "You won't be alone, I'm here remember?"
My heart warms and a smile spreads across my face as well. "Yeah." Damn it Kathleen. Why do you always give in to him so quickly.
"Come on. Let's cook."
---------------------
God forbids that my childhood friend has a back as nice as that. Even through his shirt, his muscles was perfectly outlined. Maybe he might be the hot twin that the young and skinny Tanner has been secretly hiding from me right? Is he even "Tanner?". Damn it! I said that out loud oh my god save me.
"Hmm?" He releases the spatula he was holding and turns around to face me. Now all I see are his biceps. Great.
"Uhh... You don't have a twin that you've been hiding from me right?" He bursts out in laughter.
"Pffffft Kath what?" Okay this is weird. All I see are his muscles I can't. "Ooh I see you've finally noticed my efforts." He said as he notices me staring and brought up both of his hands and flexes them.
"Shit! They look like mountains." I immediately covered my mouth. WHAT?! DID I JUST SAY THAT. KILL ME NOW. DAMMIT!
He bursts into another round of laughter that makes his eyes water. "Kath, I know you want them, but you have to calm down first. You'll get some later, don't worry." He winks and turns around, continuing to cook.
I choked, "What did you say? I wa-want those? Shut up! Hell no would I want them."
"Hmm really?" Next thing I know, he was right in front of me, grinning and making over exaggerated "look at muscles" poses.
Now both of us were laughing. Or maybe crying. It's hard to tell. "Okay okay! Get back to cooking mr. Muscle!" I say, clutching my stomach as I got up from the floor. Yeah I laughed way too hard. I think I've got solid abs already.
He smiles and ruffles my hair before silently walking back to the stove. "What you smiling at?"
"Nothing. Just glad you're having fun. Feel like I haven't seen you laugh like this for a year." He replies.
