~ Kathleen's POV ~
I woke up finding a piece of post it on my bedside lamp. Tanner said he was meeting his friends for a short while. Huh... Guess I'll be alone.
Walking to the kitchen, I found a plate of warm cookies on the table. "Chocolate cookies?"
I turned around to find mom walking down from the stairway. "Yeah. Tanner made them, I can't believe he can cook and bake now."
"He must have noticed your cravings." She replies.
"But I haven't said I wanted chocolate cookies in a long while,"
"You always want chocolate cookies, what are you talking about?"
"No I don't..."
"Well if you don't then I'll be taking those." Mom says as she threatens to carry the whole plate of cookies to her room.
My warning alarms were ringing. No way is she gonna steal my cookies. "NO!" I shouted, snatching the plate away from her.
"See?" She winks at me, making her point clear.
I sighed, "Okay you know me."
"Mother knows best!"
Well, let's just say I accidentally ate all of the cookies. They were amazing, heck, better than any other cookies I've ever tasted. Damn it! Why does Tanner have to be so good at baking and cooking? He puts me to shame.
Just as I was about to start questioning what I had been doing in life, my phone vibrated.
Tanner: Hey Kath, mind helping me do something?
Kath: yeah wassup?
Tanner: I need you to occupy Linda for awhile. I'll explain later, but first, stall her for about 20 minutes pls. Make sure she doesn't come out of her room. ;)
What? Why? Huh? Should I ask him? But he said he'll explain later... Ugh whatever, I'll trust him for now.
Barging into her room, I flop myself onto her bed and continued scrolling through my social media feeds. After about 15 minutes, she finally spoke.
"Is everything okay? Why did you suddenly come into my room?"
"I was just bored that's all." I replied. Damn it, where's Tanner? Can he hurry?
Surprisingly, she doesn't question my presence any further and continues to do her work. A few minutes later, I receive a message from Tanner saying : Hey, tell Linda to get it.
Huh? Get what? Before I could even reply, the doorbell rang. Well I suppose it refers to that.
"Hey mom, could you get that? I'm way too lazy." I groan, while pulling the bed sheets over me.
She sighs, standing up from her table. "Kids these days."
Immediately after she opens her room's door, soft and romantic music is played and she gasped. I got off the bed to see what it was and the whole living room was dark with only candles laid out on the ground. Oh my god. Is this....?
