pure hell

Still no sign of Kirsten and here goes another day at this crappy job. I take an energy drink and head to work. I find a way to have fun on my way there by rocking out to all the songs that come on. I find a parking spot and park. I take a breath before getting out of the car.

"Hey Ash." Everyone greets me as I smile and wave. I go to my office and start my work.

"Hey you were supposed to turn in a report like three days ago." Pam comes over to my desk and says.

"I sent that in a long time ago." I continue typing.

"Well I didn't get it." She smashes my hand on the keyboard making me stop typing.

"I didn't send it to you."

"Oh well I guess we're done here." She pushes my head, I roll my eyes, and walks off. I'm so sick and tired of that bitch that it's not even funny.

I don't go to the café for lunch because Kelly brings food for everyone.

"Any sign of your roommate?" Kelly asks taking a bite of her pizza.

"Nope. Now I'm actually getting worried." I bite mine feeling like I just took a bite of heaven.

"Have you thought about filing a missing persons report?"

"Doesn't she have to be missing for a certain amount of time?"

"Yea twenty four hours I think. Hasn't she been gone since Sunday morning?"

"Yep."

"Well that's over twenty four hours because today's Tuesday."

"You're right but I don't want to take this to a level it doesn't have to be taken to."

"I understand that and all but I know you don't want to lose your roommate and friend."

"Of course I don't but I'll give it some more time before I go to the authorities."

"Shouldn't you call now to ensure her safety?"

"Of course I want to make sure she's safe but I know my roommate. She's very dramatic and she does things like this for attention."

"Okay." I know this may sound stupid but I want to give it at least a week or two before I go to the authorities. I just know that Kirsten loves attention so I'm not going to try to get the authorities involved right now.

"Finally it's time to go." I say clocking out. John, Kelly, and I walk out together as usual. Kelly goes to her car as John walks me to mine. I stop him before he opens the door for me.

"Wait." I say.

"Okay." He's obviously lost.

"I really want to thank you."

"For what?"

"That guy you punched at the bar the other night?"

"Yea?"

"He was touching me."

"Oh I know. I thought you forgot."

"I'd never forget, you saved me."

"It was nothing."

"Thank you so much." I hug him tight.

"Any time." He smiles on my shoulder. I hold him for what feels like hours before slowly pulling away. When we pull away he looks at my eyes and at my lips. I look at his lips too. Before I know it, I find myself leaning in. He's leaning in too. Our lips touch as he smiles against mine.
