       Belle's POV

I walked downstairs as soon as I heard the dinner bell. Yes, we have an actual bell to signal when dinner was ready...sue us. It is helpful because it gets Sydney out of her room and August away from the bookshelves.

Dinner was silent as we all dreaded what was to come after. We all knew that I was going to have an outburst about who my real family was if I didn't get my answer soon.

Almost as if she was reading my mind, my mother, Cindy Patron, wiped her mouth with her napkin and pushed her plate away. She stood, the chair screeching softly as she pushed it back. "Bellie, come with me."

She walked over to the couch and I quickly got up to follow her, as did my three siblings.

"Belle, you appeared at our doorstep when you were three months old and you came with a small package. We aren't aloud to look at it and you can't open it until your birthday. But I thought I would let you know that you will have an extra present." My mother smiled softly. "You have always been a part of our family and whatever happens after this, you will still be a Patron. No matter what."

I frowned. "Why would my mother leave me at a stranger's doorstep? That young? What if someone stole me away?"

Her mother shrugged. "I'm glad no one stole you though. I love you like my own daughter. I'm glad you came to us." She smiled softly.

Cindy Patron was beautiful. Even with her age lines and tired eyes. The beauty still ran through. Her striking green eyes brought out her black hair with grey streaks from age. Anyone with eyes that work could see that Cindy was still beautiful at age forty-seven.

I sighed and leaned back into the couch. "In two days, I'm learning about my real family...why didn't you tell me sooner?"

I looked at my siblings. August looked confused. I don't think he knew about it either since he was younger than me. Sydney looked sad, like she was trying to hold back tears. And Ark was looking away but you could tell he was upset that I was interested in my real family by his body language. He was slumped over and his head was facing the ground.

My mom pulled me close. "Dear, we didn't tell you for two reasons. One, we thought that you were too young and-" at that moment, my father, Craig Patron, decided to walk in.

"Honey? I'm home. Did you guys finish eating al-" he froze when he saw us on the couch. Ark slumped, Syd in tears, August looking confused, mother tired and sad, and me already crying. He looked at my mother. "Already?"

She nodded. Looking back at me, she continued her talk. My father came and sat down next to her. "Honey, reason number two was that we didn't have anything to share. We aren't aloud to look inside the note or package. It said so on the outside. 'For Belle's eyes only. Open on birthday of age 11'."

We continued our talk a little more, mostly things along the line that if I wanted to go back with my other family if given the opportunity, then I could but I would still be welcome there. After all my tears were shed, and a lot of hugs were given out, we all wandered up into bed. As I was turning off my bedside lamp, August came in.

"Blue-Belle?" He whispered. He was the only one who called me Blue-Belle, and I kind of liked it.

"Yes, Auggie?"

"C-could I s-sleep with you t-tonight?" He stuttered. I moved over in bed and nodded. He quickly climbed in. "Thank you, Belle."

I smiled. "No problem, August." As soon as the light was off, I was fast asleep.
