It was the middle of summer and all I did was lounge around and wrote random stuff in my notebook. I would have better things to do if my friend Venice (Ven for short) were here but she had to move back with her dad for the summer and for the half of the upcoming school year. It's not like I don't have any friends here. But I wouldn't call them my friends, more like "forced to be friends because we're neighbors and I'm stuck with you forever." I don't want to hangout with the neighborhood kids here, they're all partying and drinking and what-not while I sit here deciding if I should eat an apple or ice cream. It was flaming hot out there, I would go to the pool but some of the people there are from my school and I don't want to see any of them right now. I would go over to Rosemary's house but we aren't really friends anymore. After 8th grade, she stopped being my friend just because she got boobs and became a cheerleader and started hanging out with the popular people in school. She still smiles at me at class or when we see each other in the hallway but it's not the same anymore. Ugh, finding a normal friend nowadays are hard. All of them are either mean or are bimbos.
Out of boredom (and frustration), I decided to head out and go for a ride on my bike. I bid my mom goodbye and get out of the house and finally ride my bike. The air smells dewy and fresh since it was afternoon. I felt the wind blow through my hair causing it to mess up. I didn't care, it''s not like anyone was around to laugh at me. It felt nice to get out of the house for once, it was nice to see the same houses which stood here in this neighborhood for so long. It was nice to see that one of our neighbors garden is in full bloom this summer. It was nice to see that my friend Ven's house was... wait. I thought that her house would be almost empty since she was gone and her mom worked this summer but no, the door was open and it looked like there were some people in the house. I got off my bike and decided to investigate. What if there were some people robbing their house? I was behind their white picket fence, hunched over and peeking so that they wouldn't see me. I then heard laughter and muffled voices as they grew louder indicating that they were headed outside. Their voices seem to sound as if they were boys. I heard their voices as they were heading for the front yard. I looked over the fence to see two boys. Not old ones but, young ones who seem to be the same age as me. They were talking about something as they were getting their bikes from their garage. The same garage as where Ven keeps her bikes. And then I remembered, Ven said something about brothers before. I think these were her brothers! They do have the same light brown hair as hers. And they seem to be as pale as her. It was really Ven's brothers. I don't really know much about them because Ven rarely talks about them ever since her parents got a divorce. She only said that she had brothers who lived with their dad. They probably switched for the summer so Ven's at her dads and her brothers are at her mothers. I then look back at the two boys. One was taller, tanner, and his hair seems to be more red than the other boy. The other boy was shorter, freckled just like Ven, and his hair was as brown as Ven's hair as well. I was quietly observing them when I saw them headed towards my direction (because I was near the gate of the picket fence.) I panicked and quickly ran off, still hunched so that they won't see me, but then I forgot my bike. Maybe I could just get it afterwards, I thought. But then the two boys would go out and see my bike and think what the hell? I couldn't risk them asking every girl in the neighborhood who owns this bike. So, I tried to get my bike and thought that if it was lying to one side, they wouldn't see it. I reached out for my bike hoping that nothing bad would happen but then I couldn't reach it so I moved closer and finally got it. "Aha!" I said to myself but just as I was going to get it, it fell down making a huge crash noise.
"Hey did you hear that?" I heard a low voice say as I heard them walking towards here. Oh crap. I thought. They might think I'm some creep watching them. I didn't want that to be the impression of me to them, Ven's brothers. As the awkward person that I am, I quickly got up and stood my bike. I was busy trying to get it stand when I didn't notice the two boys staring at me. I slowly turn to them and was met by the gaze of Ven's brothers.
