CHAPTER 11

The hall was filled with loud chatter. Everyone sat with their own groupies.

"Wait here," Craig said just before we could enter, "and when I call you, come up."

He entered the hall and it went silent. Everyone rose as he walked in like he was the king.

He got in front of the podium and started with his speech. I tuned out after he started talking about how friendly the pack was. It was all just a bunch of lies. After 10 minutes he finally decided to call Reed to introduce us all.

"Hello. My name is Reed Slater. I am very pleased to be a part of this pack," I seriously hope he didn't mean that, "and want to thank you all for being so welcoming. As Alpha Craig said, ther-" he paused abruptly, his body went stiff. I couldn't see what was making him like this, but it couldn't be good. Teal and I exchanged knowing looks. He continued before anyone else noticed. "There are four more that will be joining us. First I would like to introduce Angel Barren." As soon as she walked in everyone started hooting for her, happy to have another member. As Reed spoke he seemed to be getting more distant. "Next are the twins Teak and Teal Teague." Once again everyone started hooting for them. No doubt all the girls were checking Teak out and the guys Teal.

I took a deep breath and braced myself for what was coming next.

"Laine Ryder." That was all I heard. I felt numb. And legs couldn't move. I saw Teal give me a reassuring smile. As I walked in there was complete silence. There were no hoots or clapping. Just cold stares.

Craig was shocked. His eyes were huge. While Sean just stared at me. He stood next to Amanda with his arm around her waist.

It was so silent you could hear a pin drop. I wondered if everyone was feeling guilty. I had a faint glimmer of hope that soon died out when a random person commented in the back.

"When did she leave?"

"Why is she here!"

"Kick her out!"

Now everyone started commenting. They were clearly not sorry. Some didn't even know I had left.

Craig immediately took back the podium and waited until everyone calmed down. He started talking, saying something about how he couldn't kick me out because I had already been accepted in the pack. I tuned out after that. My mind went blank. I may have been staring at something but all I saw was pitch black. Craig may have been talking but all I heard was silence

I don't know how long I stood like that but I felt someone pull me by the arm. I let the person guide me. I didn't know where I was going. I vaguely remember walking into the pack house and up the stairs. I was pulled out from my trance once we had stopped. I looked up to that Teal had guided me. I don't know what I would have done without her. Our relationship was stronger than what I had with Angel. But I was still good friends with Angel.

"This is your room, Reed, with Teaks next to you. You both may get settled now." I looked up to see Sean was showing the rooms. The boys went into their rooms. Next we walked further down to the girls’ side. "And this is where you'll will be staying." He gestured to the 2 rooms and then looked back at Teal and Angel

"What about Laine?" Teal said.

"Don't worry, her room is a bit further away," he said with a smirk. Teal didn't push it. He was, after all, our future alpha.

He turned and walked away with me struggling to follow behind. He finally came to the stairs of the attic.

Oh no. They were making me go back into the attic.
