Sam's POV
I spun in my desk chair, debating on whether or not I should call Syd and ask if she was okay. No, I
decided. Syd wasn't one to be pushed into telling people things. She would tell me when she was
ready. My phone kept dinging and I finally checked. I groaned mentally. The messages had gotten
worse. Don't people have lives? I turned off my notifications and flopped on my bed. I need to sort out
my thoughts. It went a little something like this:
Okay... so I haven't liked Syd since we were in 10th grade.
But would if you still like her and you went out with all of those awful girls to get her out of your head?
No, I wouldn't do that. They were nice girls.
Oh come on... they were all terrible and fake b******.
Okay that's true. But in my defense, I thought they were nice at first.
Whatever, I think you still like Syd. The way she was so vulnerable today. She wasn't one of the guys...
True... I was able to comfort her. Everything about her made me get butterflies when I looked at her... NO NO, I can't. She's in a fragile state right now. I can't take advantage of her like that.
You're her best friend. Comfort her like one. And then... see what comes of it.
I sighed.
Syd's POV
Our phones kept dinging. Finally, they turned off their notifications but I kept mine on. I flopped onto my
bed and sighed. Mia spoke up. "Syd. We're here for you, as cheesy as that sounds, we are. Please...
lets just, can we start at the beginning?" I closed my eyes. They were trying to help and I was the one
who called them here. I opened my eyes to see them all staring at me. I nodded and they all sat on my
bed. I opened my messages and went to the very first one. The person's number was not in my contact
list so I knew immediantly that it was Georgia. It said:
Hey my lovelies. I found some juicy stuff today. Wanna hear?
I clicked on the video and frowned. I pressed play and Sam and Ethan popped up. Confused, I turned
the volume up. As I watched, I grew horrified. Sam was telling Ethan all about the past year. And she
got it all on video... At the end, everything that had happened was told. Except for one thing, which I
was grateful Sam didn't mention. But why was he telling Ethan in the first place?! That's not his place to
tell people my private story. The responses went on forever. There were things like,
Oh my gosh! He killed himself because of her!
What a b****!
Are you serious?! Wow, that sucks.
Why'd he beat her?
