Sam's POV
After school was the game against Vontag Academy. We were getting ready in the locker rooms when
coach came in and made a disappointing announcement. He tapped his clipboard against his leg and
yelled, "Alright boys!" he looked at Syd and nodded. She rolled her eys, used to it. "Listen up! Hey
Mclaggan! Yeah you, shut it! Okay. So the team's quarter back had an emergency. Their second string
was already hurt and no one else could play the position. Last minute, their coach got in a minor
accident. He will be okay but the game is canceled." We all looked at each other and groaned. Actually,
I do feel bad for the other team. Coach and two players with mishaps? That doesn't happen too often.
"Boys, I know we haven't had many games, due to natural causes and others but we will have more. I
promise. I'm going to work out a time to reschedule. For now, we'll just have to be grateful that none of
us are hurt. Now leave and have a good weekend. I'll whip your butts on Monday." And
with that, he left. We all started to pack up and get our stuff together. Syd walked up to her locker and
looked at me. "Hey, since we can't play, wanna get some people together and watch a movie? My
place?" I grinned at her. "Sounds great. I'll text them." She nodded and began to change. I can't lie and
say that I didn't look up a couple times from my phone.
45 minutes later and Blakely, S, Ethan, John, Mia, J, Sumter (J's boyfriend), Syd and I were sitting in
Syd's basement in front of a 72 inch TV. Advice? If you ever want an awesome place to chill, Syd's
basement is the best place for it. A foosball table/air hockey table, a TV, a huge sectional, a ping pong
table, a mini fridge, an xbox and pretty much anything else you can imagine. With 5 boys and a girl,
Syd's parents felt pretty worn out and needed their kids to chill somewhere else. And it doesn't hurt that
Syd's dad is the CEO of one of the most well known security businesses in the world. So... they had a
little extra to spend. Anyway, we began to roam through movies and finally decided on The Dark
Knight. I was sitting next to Syd on the right side of the sofa. The only problem? We were surrounded by
couples. The only other one that didn't have her boyfriend there was Blakely, and that was only
because he had a family thing. Syd looked at me and whispered, "Let's go make some popcorn." I
nodded in agreement and we slunk off. While the popcorn was popping in the microwave, Syd said, "I'll
be right back." She walked off, leaving me there, staring at the microwave. Oh crap. The smell of burnt
popcorn filled my nostrils. I laughed and took it out. I folled the path that Syd took, needing to know if
they had another one. I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw her.
She was in her room, the door was open just a crack. I had been about to say something but then I saw
