Sam's POV
I watched in agony as Clay lifted her up and put her against the wall. She wrapped her legs around his
waist and I stopped breathing. I looked away and I felt a hand tug on my arm. S pulled me quickly to
refill our drinks. I tore my eyes away and followed her slowly. I said nothing as we got our drinks. S
would glance at me quickly but she didn't say a word. The anger began to fill me as though it had been
poured in. It replaced the hurt quickly. They were at a movie theater. What did they expect? That no one
was going to see them? But I knew I couldn't show that anger. Even though they just made out pretty
much in the open, she was free to do what she wanted. I wished she had been more sensitive but she
couldn't have known that I was going to walk out and see them. I didn't want to try to understand but she
had to think I was okay with it - that it didn't bother me. As we walked back, I straightened and took a
deep breath. I was going to act fine if it killed me. I could tell S was looking at me so I gave her a small
smile. She didn't look convinced.
We walked right in front of a couple coming out. Crap. It was Syd and Clay. I began to sip on my coke
so that I wouldn't have to talk. She said something about getting something to eat and then they walked
off. I glanced back and saw that Clay gently grabbed her hand. I chewed on the inside of my lip and
then continued walking like nothing had happened.
Syd's POV
As Clay drove, I rested my chin in my hand and looked out the window. Oh SHIT, I thought. Of course
they were acting weird. They were getting refills, which meant they had to go around us... and see us
kissing. I facepalmed so hard Clay looked over in concern. "What? What did I do wrong?" I shook my
head. "It wasn't you. Actually, it was half you." He frowned. "Sam and S saw us kissing. That's why they
were acting weird." I leaned my head back on the head rest and sighed. "Well, that wasn't exactly how I
wanted them to find out I have feelings for you." I saw him smile, which made me frown. "Why are you
smiling at a time like this? I'm having a mid-life crisis." He shook his head. "It just sounds nice to hear
that you have feelings for me." I rolled my eyes. He laughed at my expression and said, "Hey, don't
worry about it okay? We'll figure it out. You can work things out with Sam and life will go on. Right now,
lets just go on our date." I nodded, then said, "I'm not exactly date appropriate though." I looked down at
my loose white v-neck, my thick cream cardi, leggings, and tall boots. "I'm comfy though. I guess that's
good." He looked at me and threw me one of his cheeky winks. "I think you look beautiful."
We arrived at Mama Mia's, the best Italian restaurant in the city, and parked. Clay told me not to get out
