Graduation day
I gather the last of my stuff before shoving it into a box. I couldn't believe the University of Wisconsin basically begged me to come early, it was like my dreams had come true! My aunt wasn't too happy with me leaving Canada but I wanted to leave. There were so many terrible memories that I wanted to leave behind me. I just wanted to start over.
Hazel was going to the University of Florida with Addison and Autumn was also going to the University of Georgia. Guess we all wanted to escape. Matt wasn't sure where he wanted to go yet so he decided to take a year off.
"Sam, get your butt down here, I have something for you." Hazel yelled from my kitchen. I slowly got up and looked around my room. It was so empty and I didn't think I was going to return after college.
I hurried down the stairs and saw Hazel holding a dress. It was simple and black, I loved it. I snatched it from her grasp and ran upstairs. I put it on and examined how it looked in the mirror. I smiled to myself because of course Hazel would pick a dress that was perfect for me.
"Wow you look amazing." Matt said.
"How did you get in here!?"
"Hazel let me in." I buzzed my face in his chest as he hugged me tight.
"We need to go, it's almost time to graduate." I wasn't ready to leave my friends. I was 18 and technically an adult but I still felt like a kid.
We walked downstairs and followed Hazel to Matt's car. Autumn was sitting in the backseat with Addison. I smiled softly because it was nice to see our group together. I called shotgun and beat Hazel to the front seat. I stuck my tongue out at her as she was squished in the middle seat.
"LET'S GRADUATE!" We all yelled as we pulled out of my house and started to drive to the high school. I couldn't fathom the fact that today was the last day of high school.
"OMG we are here already!" Autumn squealed.
"I can't wait to leave this hell hole." Addison groaned as she yanked the handle to open the door.
"Guys remember my motto? Live-"
"Like your blood type B positive" They said.
"Oh?" They all stared laughing as I got out of the car.
I ran to catch up with Matt, who was way ahead of us. He seemed pretty content for no particular reason.
"Why are you so happy."
"Oh no reason at all!" He cheerfully replied. Something was up and I was going to find out sooner or later. We made our way to the place we were supposed to sit. Matt was close to the front with Addison and I was close to the back near Autumn. I watched Hazel sat next to Shawn. She looked my way and smiled at me and I waved back, hoping Shawn wouldn't look at me and make me want to jump over all the chairs and kiss him. It has been hard for the both of us but it was almost over, well sort of. Tomorrow would be the day that we could be together, but I was leaving for college.
I saw Jamie waving to me from Connor's lap. Troye was next to him and it made me so happy to see them there. Of course Aunt Casey was there, but we weren't really on speaking terms.
They started calling the names, and I felt my nerves come in. I watched Hazel go up and then Shawn. I knew I wasn't to far after them but I was still nervous.
"Our valedictorian of the class of 2016, Samantha Thrones." I gathered my speech and made my way up to the podium.
"Thanks Principle. Hi my name is Samantha Thornes, as he said. I just wanted to say, this achievement wouldn't have happened if I didn't set goals for myself. I fell in love with the University of Wisconsin at a young age when I visited it with my parents. My dad went there and I knew he would be beyond happy if he knew I was going. When they passed away, I knew that was were I wanted to go. I took classes that challenged myself and made me work hard. It paid off in the end because I got a 4.5 GPA. I wish everyone the best of luck in whatever you have decided to do after College. It has been an honor to be in the class of 2016, thanks!" I left the podium as the crowd cheered loudly.
The largest smile was on my face as I left to meet Connor. He gave me a huge hug and same with Troye. They drove me back to my house and helped load the rest of the boxes in my car. I felt tears started to fall down my cheek just thinking about leaving my brother and sister. I loved them so much.

The next morning, I woke up early so I could get on the road as soon as possible, it was a long drive. I left without saying goodbye to my aunt but I did say goodbye to Jamie and Connor. Hazel ran out of her house and ran towards me with her arms wide open.
"I am going to miss you so freaking much!" She wrapped her arms around me before I could say anything else. When she let go, she knew exactly what I was going to ask.
"He left to go back on his world tour," I felt my face crumple as I stood there wishing she was joking. "I am sorry."
I nodded my head and gave her a hug before I got in the car and drove away.
