She felt so humiliated. Who blurts out, to the guy you like, that you like him whilst talking about your mother's fatal battle with cancer? Rory apparently

What Rory couldn't understand why Will was the first one she ever felt comfortable telling about her mother? She considered telling Ben but he had a shaky relationship with his mum so he wouldn't truly understand. She had gotten close to telling Jen, Jen would understand, Jen was as close to best friend Rory had but when her mouth shaped to form the words; she closed up, shrunk back into her chair and changed the subject. So what was it about Will? What about Will forced her carefully constructed walls down and brought her inner most thoughts out? Lord knows. But Rory knew that they couldn't keep their friendship to the confines of a phone anymore.

They had to meet. They had to.

They had to meet. Will was going to go insane if they didn't.

After that last conversation all he wanted to do was take Rory into his arms and armour her from every single possible evil in this world. He had never felt this protective over anyone beside his little sister before in his life. It washed over him with an energy he wasn't expecting. Rory didn't warrant the pain she was dealt.

Will was also trying really hard not to focus solely on her admission. She needed a friend right now more than she needed to be courted and Will was going to be that friend. He was going to bring a smile to those eyes which have only seen agony for 2 years. He promised himself.
