Peridot's POV

What just happened...? All I could do was stand there, my cheeks so hot it's like they're burning my face. I finally snapped out of my thoughts and began to race walk out of the classroom, in a slight daze with my mind still locked on the bluenette. I don't know if she's doing this to me because she likes me or just wants to screw with me but either way, I'm not enjoying it. That damn smirk on her face, the somewhat annoyingly cute chuckle...those gorgeous eyes... wait wait stop it Peridot! Try thinking straight for once in your damn life!

I shake the thought of Lapis out of my head and continued to walk down the crowed hallway, avoiding as many people as possible. Just as I reach my locker, a muscular figure with wild bleach blonde hair stands in my way. I look up to see Jasper towering over me and staring down at me with a look that would kill if it could.  A shit-eating grin makes its way onto her face. I begin to walk away until she steps in front of me, blocking my path of escape.

"Woah there Perisnot, don't leave so soon, I just got here. Besides, I don't want you to miss your own beating." She  grips my shoulder hard and slams me up against the locker, my head banging against it as my back makes contact with the cold metal, causing me to see double.

Be careful making wishes in the dark

Can't be sure when they've hit their mark

And besides in the meantime I'm just

Dreaming of tearing you apart

Jasper leans in closer. "Listen up cause I'm only warning you once, stay away from Lapis, she's mine, and mine alone." Every word that came out of her mouth was laced with venom. I raise my hands up defensively, feeling a cold sweat stream down my back.

"There's nothing going on between Lapis and I. We just simply sit next to each other in class, nothing more! If anything she annoys the hell out of me!" My voice shakes slightly due to the fear of getting beaten to a pulp by the brute with the iron grip on my shoulder.

"Even if that is true, it's no reason why I can't do this." Within a split second I feel a crushing pain in my gut and Jasper's grip on my shoulder being released. I keel over in pain  from her fist connecting with my stomach. I see her raising her foot above my head but before she could slam it down onto my skull, I see a figure step in between me and the brute, stopping her attack.

"Hold up a second, no need to be killing each here, eh?" When I look up I see what I think is a girl with short hair, the front dyed red, wearing an open red flannel with a black undershirt. A nervous smile playing on her lips. Jasper just stares back at her, confusion written across her face, that is until she starts laughing.

"And what makes you think that you can make me stop?"

"Pay yeah thirty bucks." Jasper looks at the girl, considering her offer. She pulls out a clump of five dollar bills from her pocket holding them out to Jasper. I start to shakily stand up, attempting to make my head stop spinning. Jasper grins and snaches the money from the shorter girls hand, shoving it into her pocket. Jasper begins to walk away till she turn her head back towards me.

"Don't think I'm done with you runt. And remember my warning." When she leaves I look to the girl, who is sighing in relief. She looks back at me and sticks out a fist.

"Name's Crimson." I lightly bump her fist with mine.

     "Peridot. Why'd you do that?"

"I don't really enjoy watching people get beaten to a pulp. Unless I'm the one beating them that is." She smirks slightly at me, shoving her hands in her pockets.

"Thanks I guess, though I don't see why you paid her thirty dollars."

"Would you rather that or get you face punched in?"

"Good point." Crimson flashes a crooked smile at me, scratching the back of her head.

"Say, wanna sit with me at lunch?"

"Okay I guess." I shrug slightly at her question. I usually just sit alone during lunch. Mostly to avoid annoying classmates. But Crimson seems alright, she did just save me from a beating from Jasper.

"Great, see yeah then Peridot." Crimson walks away whistling. I grab my books from my locker and begin walking to my next class.

Well, that was an interesting encounter.

A/N

Eyo smol gems! Welp I think it's kind obvious that I am not good at going with update schedules, so far at least. Sorry for being over a week late, I had a slight writers block and irl stuff. But anyways, I hope you enjoyed the chapter today and I'll hopefully be able to get another one out sooner than this time. Cya till then!
