Evan's P.O.V.-
He locked the shop's door. The place was now quiet and empty. He sighed as he pushed a hand through his hair. Flipping the light switch off he headed back to the stairs. Ethan and Amber had left just moments ago. He was glad they had come to see him, he had missed his friends. It was nice to have a relaxing couple of hours just hanging out and talking. He hadn't felt this relaxed since Trish had told him about the affair.
He couldn't believe she had changed so much. She wasn't the sweet girl he had married. He wanted her back, but he didn't think he would be able to trust her ever again. Opening the door he walked up the stairs. Cage was waiting for him.
Something was going on with Cage tonight. Evan wasn't sure what it was, but he was going to find out. Cage was hiding something from him and Evan had a feeling it all revolved around Amber.
Turning the corner at the top of the stairs, he saw Cage sitting at the table talking on his cell phone. Evan took the seat that he had vacated earlier to lock the shop up.
He was ease-dropping on Cage's phone call, but Cage didn't seem to mind. “That's fine honey, but try and give her some space.” Cage said to whom ever he was talking to, with a sigh.
Evan couldn't hear the person's answer but it seem to frustrate and amuse Cage at the same time.
“Honey that girl has always needed space. Just let her do her thing. And don't be to pushy. I'm sure she likes you, but don't go over board.”
Whatever came from the person put a panicked look on Cage's face. Evan wondered about it. Cage didn't panic over anything, something was definitely up with him tonight.
“Honey, I'll explain later. I'm with Evan right now. I need to talk to him first.” Evan frowned. What the hell was going on?
“Okay, I'll see you in the morning.” With that Cage ended the call and tossed his phone on the table. Sitting back in his chair, he starred off into space. Evan gave him a moment. Cage would start talking soon enough.
“There's something I need to tell you...” Cage locked eye's with Evan. Evan felt all of a sudden that he wasn't sure if he was ready to know what Cage wanted to share with him. He felt panicked. He wasn't sure why, but he had a feeling whatever had been hiding, was going to change his life.
Cage's P.O.V.-
He had just got off the phone with Jenni. He had slipped and said something he shouldn't have. Now he was going have to explain to her how he knew Amber. For all the reason's he had thought were good for so long, he wasn't so sure about them now.
He had only told one person this secret he was fixing to share with his best-friend, a secret that he knew he should have told him so long ago. A secret that would have changed that little girls life. A secret that just might end his friendship with the one person he thought that he would go through life with. The one person that he knew would always have his back. Now he wasn't so sure. He hoped Evan would understand why he did what he did, but putting himself in Evan's shoes, he didn't know if he could ever forgive himself.
“There's something I need to tell you...” Cage locked eye's with Evan. His friends face went from concerned to panic. Ah Evan got that this conversation was a serious one. But where the hell did he start. When Evan didn't respond. Cage decided to start from the beginning.
“Okay this goes back a ways.” When Evan only raised a brow, Cage continued. This wasn't going to be easy on either one of them, but Cage knew he had to tell him.
“It all started our senior year in high school. The specific night I'm talking about was the championship game for football. But being the bad asses we were, we didn't go to the game. We decided to go to a party that night instead,” Cage paused a moment, he couldn't remember whose house it was at. They had went to so many.
