Amber's P.O.V.-

She couldn't believe she was telling these guys her story. It felt good to finally tell someone. She had told Charlie and he had believed her, but the cops hadn't. She tried to tell them, but her step-father had convinced the cops that she was just distraught over losing her mother. But she knew he had.

Nick asked, “How?”

She didn't know why but she was a lot more comfortable with him asking that instead of him telling her sorry for her lose. The “sorry's” never helped, they just made things awkward.

Instead of telling him straight out, she decided to give him a little of her back story. She didn't know why she was so comfortable with telling Nick, but she was and now that she had started talking she didn't want to stop.

As she started talking she felt Ethan lift his head and lift one foot and then the other taking her boots off. She heard them thunk against the floor, before Ethan rearranged her so she had a leg on each side of his. “When I was thirteen, my Mom started seeing him.” She couldn't bring herself to say his name. It made him seem to real. “I meet HIM for the first time on Thanksgiving, I didn't like HIM, but my Mom just thought it was because I wasn't used to seeing men in our house.” Amber brushed a strand of hair out of her face. “But that wasn't it. I just didn't like HIM. He was nice to Mom, but when she left the room he would just stare at me. I didn't like it. By Christmas they were married.”

She could remember crying herself to sleep that night. She knew her life would never be the same. “It started slowly but he finally got it where Mom wasn't talking to any of her friends, she stopped going to church, she quit her job, and anytime she left the house she had to tell him exactly how long she would be gone. If she was even one minute late without calling him, he would be mad at her for days.”

Amber didn't want to think about what she was going to tell them next, but she had to get it out. Once she started she didn't think she could stop. She had to tell them. Maybe then she wouldn't be so alone. She felt her self shiver, but this time it was from being cold. Ethan's warmth was keeping her front warm but she would like to change and get a drink before she went on with her story.

She lifted her head and looked at Ethan for the first time in an hour. “I need to go to the bathroom.” He gave her soft smile, but didn't say anything. He probably thought she was trying to get out of telling them the rest. “Could you get me a drink while I go and change?”

Ethan didn't say anything, but he did help her stand up. Once she was on her own two feet, she almost fell. Nick stood up and grabbed her arm. She shocked herself by not recoiling from his fast movement.

“Here let me help you.” Nick offered.

“I'll help her, you get her a drink.” Ethan finally spoke up. Amber felt herself panic. She didn't want Ethan helping her. She had a feeling she was going to need help changing, and she didn't want him to see the scars. Shaking her head she said, “No,” Looking up at Nick, she asked, “Can you get Lucca?” She didn't realize she was giving him pleading eyes. At that moment he would have given her anything she needed.

“Yea, just sit back here with Ethan for a moment why I get him.” He helped her sit back on Ethan's bed. Ethan was sitting beside her stiff. She looked over at him. She realized she hurt him, she hadn't meant to. When Nick walked out of the room she said quietly to Ethan, “He's gay, I would feel more comfortable with him helping me. And I figured you would rather it be him instead of Nick.” She watched Ethan's eyes grow huge, then he gave her a soft smile. “Okay.”

“Will you get my some clothes? I don't want anyone else in my room?” Ethan's smile grew a little. He brushed a strand of hair out of her face. “Sure, why don't you get changed in here, then go to the bathroom?”
