Fast-forward to June 10. Artem and Ravil were still living together, there had been no more postcards, and Ravil had heard nothing from or about his dad.
Life was great.
That is, until Ravil was tinkering with his virus code that morning- the fateful morning of June 10.
He took a minute to sit back in his computer chair, tilting his head to peer at the white ceiling. When his eyes returned to his computer screen, began to question himself.
Who are these people really, and why am I writing code for them? Why do they want me to take down the Department of Defense? Why am I listening to them?
He blinked, rubbed his face with a hand, then stared at the screen.
"You know what?" He mumbled out loud.
"Screw this!" He stood, slamming his hands onto the desk and kicking his chair away. He turned his middle finger to his webcam and turned the computer off, placing a Band-Aid over the camera and leaving the room. He shut the door on his way out.
As he walked into the living room, Artem looked up from his (newly-bought) novel and placed his pale blue gaze onto Ravil's face.
"Everything alright?" Artem asked.
"Just fine." Ravil replied, approaching the kitchen to get a glass of water. He failed to mention that he might have just ditched the FSB.
But that's alright, because Artem would figure that out soon.
