After running all their errands, Artem and Ravil went back home. Artem parked the car (it was a shiny new Land Cruiser) in the garage, and Ravil went to check the mail.
The only thing that Ravil found in the mailbox was a postcard from Hawaii, sent by one of his father's old friends.
"My dad's in jail, you idiot," Ravil muttered, but still looked at the postcard. Something about the shore and palm trees felt oddly familiar to him. He decided to show it to Artem, so he went inside.
Artem was standing in the kitchen, unloading the groceries. He glanced up as Ravil entered the house. "Any mail?"
"Yeah, a post card." Ravil said, walking into the kitchen to stand beside Artem. "Look," He handed Artem the postcard.
"Hawaii?" Artem raised an eyebrow. "Who's it from, anyway?"
"Some old goon that my dad knew." Ravil shrugged. "The photo just feels familiar to me, and I don't know why."
"Maybe it's just deja vu?" Artem suggested, his pale blue eyes scanning the card.
"No, it feels stronger than that." Ravil answered.
"Well, have you ever been to Hawaii?" Artem queried, lifting the card up so that the ceiling lights would shine through it. "No secret messages here. Or at least, I don't think I see any."
"No, never been to Hawaii. And we never got postcards in the mail. Even before my dad got taken away." Ravil replied.
"Maybe it's just a coincidence? Or maybe he mailed it to the wrong place. Let's take care of the groceries first, yeah?" Artem said.
