"It's a deal, Mr. Takaryev." said Everett O'Donnell as he shook Artem's hand.
Once the handshake was over, something beeped, and Everett pulled a government-issued Blackberry phone from his pocket. A few seconds passed, and Everett's face paled.
"What's wrong?" Artem asked.
"Department of Defense is completely offline. Something's terribly wrong and they can't figure it out." Everett replied, his thumbs tapping away on the Blackberry. He looked up at Artem. "I saw you hack into Russia's government email servers. You know a lot about this stuff, correct?"
"Will I be incriminating myself if I agree?" Artem asked, still feeling a bit wary.
"No. You can hack into Russia all you want." Everett replied.
"Well then, yes. Is there any way I can help?" Artem queried.
"Come with me." Everett said. "Once we get to headquarters, you can take an oath to secrecy and then get to work helping us trace this."
"Alright," said Artem, albeit a bit nervously.
