10 Year Ago cont'd;
The Elders were called back into the council chamber once Malcolm and Nancy returned to the Main Chambers. Drake lead the discussion, "Malcolm, would you please allow Elder Ben to review," he pointed to Elder Ben and Malcolm nodded, accepting his suggestion that Elder Ben replays his memories of what occurred. It showed Malcolm receiving a call from Mekhi in the middle of the night to come down because Payton was up to something and he could see straight away that something was off. Malcolm transported Nancy to the main chambers and ran inside, seeing Caspian and hugging him tightly, listening to him say, "We need to get out of here," with Malcolm pulling away as he said "I'm not going back brother," He looks at Nancy. The memory jumps in time to Caspian opening the nurses door and creating a portal back to Distortion. The Elders watched as Ben's white eyes projected the memories of Malcolm onto the back wall. The memories stopped being viewed as Malcolm was embracing Nancy. Elder Ben rejoined the others in his chair. "It's like having one of my keys," Elder Ken quipped. "In a way, yes," Fae replied. Drake looked around the room at the others who were looking back at him for his guidance, making him the acting lead Elder in Payton's absence. Although, he accepted the role, he remained his chair as he figured it wouldn't be long until Payton showed his face around Distortion again. "How long has it been since you've seen your brother?" Luke asked Malcolm, "About 10 Years," "I wish I could say the same," Lucy whined and they bickered between each other. "Is there anyway you can transport there and back?" Drake questioned, and Malcolm shook his head. "I've had a hard time learning how to transfer to familiar places. It would be difficult to be accurate and that's just with me or with one other person... I am not.. advanced enough to transfer a group," Drake slammed his fist on the table, "If only Payton showed me how to work the training chambers upstairs, he could just train there," "There's no point," Count mumbled. "If were are to save Payton he should go back now," Fae chimed in, "Why should Malcolm go?" Elder Ken asked, "He has teleportation," Luke replied. "Yeah like his brother," Lucy replied, whacking Luke in the arm. They were both being more childish then normal with Payton out of the meeting. "What about Ken? He can make a key can't he?" Meeka queried and Fae nodded, "Yeah that would be a better solution," "But they couldn't get back without another key," Lucy replied. "The door could stay open and they could come back," Luke bickered back. Drake put his hand under his chin as he took a moment between everyone speaking their opinions to think about an actual solution. Nancy held tightly on Malcolm's hand, scared the Elders will order him to return to Fernbrooke. He rubbed her arm and looked at her with a sweet smile as the elders discussed options back and forth. Drake shrugged, not able to come up with a viable solution that didn't put anyone in danger. "Maybe an attack is just what we need. Get Ken to make a 100 keys and we all go through and attack..." Lucy recommended and Drake stood up, "No, we aren't attacking Fernbrooke. That's what they are expecting. There's nothing much more we can do... I think for now, best course of action is to think of a best course of action. There's no point acting on any one of your suggestions without identifying the outcomes and the solutions to problems we may encounter. If we attempt to save Payton now... Fernbrooke would be swarming with guards, we could just as well end up in their isolation chambers or worse.... dead," He said with emphasis, looking around at the elders. "Let's continue to think and put ideas together. But let's not act on this today, not now.." Nancy smiled at Malcolm happy to hear that he won't be leaving her. "You can go now," Drake instructed to the young couple and they left quickly. "Why do we have these meetings if we not going to do anything," Lucy complained loud enough for all to hear as she walked out of the room, Luke followed after her. Drake looked at Fae and she shrugged, not sure what to think and just walked past Drake until all but himself were left in the room. He walked to the windows and looked out.
Payton fell to the floor as Caspian dropped him in the hallway at the opposite end of where they came in. Payton quickly saw guards talking and slowly walking towards them. "Come on," he whispered to Caspian, crawling backwards to get up and help him up. Some of the white powder spilled on the floor out of his pocket as he was getting up. Payton held onto him as he guided him through the hallway. As they turned a corner, they continued to run as they approached guards stationed ahead. They back up quickly and moved to a smaller hallway, running down and seeing a door. Caspian rushed in and Payton followed as stairs lead them down lower in the facility. Caspian burst through another door with the area dimly lit. Payton walked behind Caspian and closed the door. The sound of a monitoring machine in a hospital could be heard in the room. It was dark and Caspian sat on the floor, lying against a soft rug and enjoying the touch as he stroked it on the floor. Payton caught his breath and stood up, looking over and seeing Sarah, his wife, as a 10 years old lying on a hospital bed. She had a pretty green dress on and her hair was brushed. He moved slowly over to her as his eyes began to well up. He dropped to his knees beside her and kissed her hand. "Sarah..." he barely could speak the words. He hadn't called for his wife in over 10 years since she stopped Eville from killing Payton. He put his head on the bed and cried. Caspian sat up, hearing Payton crying and walked over to him. He was balling his eyes out, being so close to Sarah in over a decade. "Hey man.. we can't stay here," It was dimly lit in the room also and Caspian barely could see Payton. It was only the sound of his heavy breathing and sobbing that made it easy. Caspian touched Payton's back and he shrugged him off, "NO! I'm not leaving her," He held onto his wife, "We have to go man!" Caspian pulled on Payton again who shook Sarah. "Stop! Stop! If she's controlling distortion, you might kill everyone there if we don't go," Payton took a deep breathe and didn't realize how sensible Caspian sounded even though he was high off his head. The sound of a buzzing repetitive siren went off as a red flashing light flooded the room. Payton knew the sound was the alarm if someone was escaping to alert the guards to assist. "Quick, man, we have to go..." Caspian urged again, tripping out of the unknown set off by the alarm. He looked around wearily and Payton kissed Sarah's little hand again and placed it back on the bed. Caspian helped him stand up and then Payton helped Caspian remain standing as the door was being open. Eville walked into the room and could see Sarah's hands were no longer placed together but separate. He moved quick to her side as Ryder increased the light in the room with the dim switch. Eville gently placed her hands together has he had left them. He stroked her hair back behind her ears and smiled at her dream appearance. "Sir.." Ryder started as Eville held up his hand. "Leave the room," he instructed as the guards and Ryder exited the room quickly and left Eville alone with Sarah.
