Chapter 28

10 Years Ago continued;

Dr. Reflex woke up, it was the middle of the night but he had trouble staying asleep. He couldn't help but be afraid that every time he wakes up or appears in a new area, there's the chance he will time jump. He sat up and shifted his legs over the edge of the couch. He looked back towards Brooke's bedroom and stood up, walking over to see if he was still in the present time. The door opened and he could see Brooke laying on her bed enchantingly with the moonlight providing enough light in the room. She awakened to the door open and sat up in her bed, looking at Reflex. "Are you okay?" she questioned seeing him looking back at her. He looked away from her, feeling slightly embarrassed that he was just entering her bedroom. Brooke stepped out of the bed as she could see his shoulders were slumped and he had a somber disposition. She walked up to him, letting her nightgown fall below her knees as she reached for his hand. His eyes met with hers as she held onto him, "Are you okay Chris?" She pressed again, and he shook his head. "I...I..." he stuttered, feeling harebrained. She pulled him in for a hug and he instinctively put his arms around her. They shared a hug and he exhaled deeply, Reflex felt at peace being around Brooke. She was a refreshing person who was full of compassion that he didn't realized how much he needed in his life at this time. She pulled away from him, but held onto his hands and took a step back guiding Reflex further into the bedroom. "I should.." she shook her head, seeing him gesture to the lounge room implying to go back to sleep. "Come on.." she walked him to her bed and moved under the covers. He walked over to the other side and laid on top of the covers beside her on his face, facing the roof and remaining awake long enough to hear Brooke fall asleep.

Dr. Eville walked out of the room, rushing passed Apollo's room and he remained on the bed like the Professor had always demanded of him. Eville walked into the main hallway, seeing Bolt, Ryder and Warren laughing and joking between themselves. He moved with erratic strides, frustrated at the clumsiness of Warren. Ryder caught a fast approaching person from the corner of his eye and stood to attention seeing Eville walking quickly in his direction. Bolt and Warren looked towards Ryder's line of sight and saw Eville approaching them. His footsteps were loud as he almost stomped towards them. Warren could see the Professor's eyes were locked on him and he couldn't help but take a few steps backwards in reverence of Eville. "You!" He called, pointing his finger sharply towards Warren. He put his arms up as if to surrender, "Wh-What? What did I do?" Eville stopped a few steps in front of him beside Bolt and Ryder. "You.. you let that happened," Eville pointed back towards the double doors and Warren looked over in that direction, he turned back towards him and shook his head, "Naah, naah man, You know me, I wouldn't do that to you on purpose," He could see Eville's eyes widen as the anger was growing by the tightening of his face. Warren feeling panicking started to ramble, "I didn't know Dr. Reflex was there. I had no idea where he came from. I didn't do that on purpose. You know me boss. I'm not that guy. We had a plan. I followed the plan boss. You know I did. I became an Elder like you requested. I have shared the information I've gathered about each Elder from the scrolls. I know it's hard to trust someone who isn't here and I know it's been a while-" Eville cut him off with his teeth clamped and a hissed voice, "Over ten years.." Warren nodded, "Right, right, and this shitty situation has happened because of me, I accept that," Eville took a step forward and Warren took a step back holding out his hands with his fingers apart to stop Eville, "Wait, wait I have your solution," Eville didn't react to Warren's pathetic hand gesture as he saw it however, Ryder took a step to the side and stopped him. The Professor looked up at Ryder with grand distaste, pissed off he would stop him. "Just hear him out boss," Ryder indicates to Warren and Eville's face drops slightly. He is curious how Warren who allowed not only the entry into Distortion to be taken away but the second key as well. "I know who can get us there," Eville raises an eyebrow, curious as to whom they could use to help them," Warren smiled, feeling marginally more confident with his vital piece of information. He just wasn't too sure how quick he would reveal everything to the Professor.
