Max's POV:

I was dropping Tom off for his first day of school. Siva wanted to wait another year, but Tom really wants to go, and make friends.

Are you sure you want to go? I asked as Tom and I sat in my car at his school's parking lot.

He nodded yes, and we walked to the main office. I checked him in, and a woman took him to his class.

Bye Daddy! Tom said as he walked away.

II waved until him and the woman were out of sight.

First kid? Another woman asked me.

Yeah... I don't know if we should have waited another year. He's so young. Only 5. I said thinking maybe Siva was right.

The first and last children are always the hardest to let go, but I promise you I think he's ready. He seemed pretty excited. The woman said smiling at me.

Thanks I guess your right. I smiled back and left for home.
*back at home*

As soon as I got home Siva left for a photo shoot with Kumar. Nathan was awake and looking around.

Ba? He asked me. He started making more sound after Christmas.  "Ba" was his word for Siva. He didn't have a word for Tom or I yet.

Ba's not here right now, Nath. Just you and me. I told him as I warmed up his bottle. I picked him up, and fed him then asked him "What do you wanna do baby?"

Ba. He said still wanting Siva.

You don't want me? I asked covering my eyes with a hand. I pretended to sniffle and cry causing Nathan to snuggle more into me.

I'm just kidding. I said laughing as I swung him up in the air.

We watched cartoons, had lunch, and a nap together. I get to do this almost everyday until I send him off to school too.

I was dressing Nathan in a shirt and pants when the phone rang. Balancing Nathan on one side I answered it.
Hello? I asked the caller
Hi, is this Thomas Kaneswaran's father? A woman's voice asked.
One of them. Why? I asked.
I'm Mrs. McGreggs, the principal of the school. I'm calling because your son was involved in a small fight physically. Mrs. McGreggs told me.
Is he alright? What happen? I asked concerned.
I'd like it if you come down to the school so you, the other boys parent, and I could go over what happen. He's alright, a few scratches, but ok. Mrs. McGreggs said.
I'll be there soon. I told her hanging up.

It seems your brother got in trouble. I told Nathan. After finishing dressing Nathan I drove to the school. I walked in, and saw Tom & another boy sitting on plastic chairs. I sat next to them, and Nathan reached for Tom. I forgot it was their first time being separated. A lady called me to the front desk, and I walked up.

Mrs. McGreggs will see you now. She said.

Ok just give me one more minute please. I said as she nodded accepting it.

I walked back to Tom, and gave him Nathan.

He missed you. Don't drop him, ok? I said as Tom nodded holding Nathan up who smiled at him.

I followed the woman to Mrs. McGreggs office room. Once we got there the woman walked out.

Mr. Kaneswaran-George thank you for coming down. Mrs. McGreggs said motioning for me to sit down.

I sat down, and shook hands with the other parent who introduced herself as Mrs. Martins.

Alright, your sons were at lunch break when the fight happened. They reached for the football at the same time apparently, and refused to let go. Mr. Martins then pushed Mr. Kaneswaran-George who pushed him back. Students watching said it was just a shoving match until they starting slapping each other. A teacher saw them, and sent them to me. We do not appreciate fights, even small ones. Mrs. McGreggs told us seriously.

Mrs. Martins and I both apologized to each other.

I'm sorry my boy Matthew pushed and fought with your boy. Mrs. Martins told me.

I'm sorry too that Tom hurt Matthew. I'll be sure to talk to him about that. I told her smiling slightly.  She returned the smile, and we were about to get up when a cry rang out followed by a woman shouting " Stop! Stop it now boys!"

Mrs. Martins, Mrs. McGreggs, and I all got up and ran back to the front. Tom and Matthew were rolling on the ground punching each other. Nathan was in the woman from the front desks' arms crying loudly. My first reaction was to get Nathan to stop crying so I held my arms out, and was put in them.

Shh. It's ok. Shh. I told him as he stoppef crying.

Mrs. Martin's grabbed her son as Mrs. McGreggs grabbed Tom.

Boys! Mrs. McGreggs scolded them.

Fighting is not allowed. What happened this time? She asked them.

He pinched Nathan for no reason! Tom yelled.

Tom inside voices! I said still calming Nathan.

Why would you pinch a baby, Matthew? Mrs. Martin's asked him.

He kept staring at me all creepily. Matthew said.

Then he started crying, and these two started rolling on the ground. The woman from the front desk finished.

As punishment,  you two will spend your lunch time in my office for the rest of the week. Mrs. McGreggs told them frowning. Yes Mrs. McGreggs. Tom and Matthew said in unison.
*At home*

Tom fighting is never allowed. Never. I told him as Siva, Tom, and I sat around the kitchen table later that night.

I'm sorry. Really I am, but the second time was his fault!! Tom said his head down.

I agree with you about the second time being his fault, but you either should have told him to stop or told the woman at the front desk. Siva said lifting Tom's head up with his hand.

Although we do have to give you a punishment. I said as Tom flinched.

Please don't hit me. He whimpered looking at me with wide eyes.

Hit you?! Why would I hit you? I asked confused.

My other dad use to hit me when I was bad. Tom said shivering at the thought.

Siva picked him up in his lap, and said " Tom we'd never hit you. Never be scared of us."

Tom nodded, and I continued "Your punishment is your playdate with James is canceled this weekend. We'll move it up a weekend instead. "

Tom nodded, and we all went to bed.
