Chapter 7 - The game

Maya P.O.V *EDITED*

I changed into my cheerleading outfit, I had stayed home for a week to rest after my accident. It seems that's what everyone talks about now, but I guess this is what happens when your boyfriend nearly kills you in the middle of the hallway, well ex-boyfriend now.

I was really excited for the game, I feel amazing when I cheer it's like I let loose, like when I sing or paint, yes I can do those things too, but singing I keep it a secret.

Okay I was about to go on, no time for nervousness Maya, you can do this, you are captain, you can do this, your friends are here to support you.

"Now announcing the varsity cheerleading team lead by Maya hart." The announcer said over the speaker.

 I started doing the routine that I had practiced for months for, I ended it with a bright smile at the crowd, right after the football players ran into the field ready to begin the game.

-time skip to end of game-

 Tomorrow is homecoming dance! I really hope Lucas will ask me, I am pretty sure he will, I have denied every request so far. (from boys who ask her to the dance)

Lucas P.O.V

Maya was amazing, I mean she always is, throughout the performance I would sometimes catch Riley staring at me but I just shrugged it off.

Today I was going to ask Maya to the homecoming dance.

Maya Is heading over, Lucas get yourself together, you can do this.

"Maya, you were great out there" I said truthfully trying to keep from smiling too hard so she wouldn't suspect was I was planning on asking her.

"Yeah Maya, amazing, I still can't believe you did better than me in cheerleading!" Riley said laughing and giving Maya a hug.

"Great job Maya." Farkle said running to us from the bleachers.

Farkle and Riley went to get a snack leaving just me and Maya, this was my chance, I was going to ask her out now.

"Maya?" I asked nervously. "yes? ranger Rick"said Maya In a playful tone as per usual.

"Will you go to the homecoming dance with me?" I asked hoping she would say yes.

"Of course I will huckleberry." Maya said as she kissed me and in that moment everything felt right.

Maya P.O.V

Yes he asked me! And I kissed him! Farkle drove us all home, once I got home I went up to my room and started to text Riley and Farkle about what had just happened.

M-I am going over to your house tomorrow, we are going shopping!😄

Am I jealous because Lucas asked Maya out? no, I can't be, tomorrow when Maya gets here I am going to smile because I am happy for my bestfriend.

But the secret that no one should know or will know is that a part of me never stopped loving Lucas.
