They sat him down in a chair with a wide smile on his face as he bounced around happily. His dagger filled eyes sending shudders through everyone. The woman who was in charged took his hand gently and brought him into the chair across the table from me.
Guards standing by the doors and right by me, she told them to back up a small bit as he started off where he left off, bouncing in his chair as he stared at the woman, trying to move around his hands, she smiled warmly at him and gave him a hug.
Miss wasn't entirely ecstatic when I told her that I chose him. In fact, she was rather mortified, but she never told us who to pick and who not to pick. And well, he was my choice. If I get a buddy I might as well make it interesting for me.
We're in college now, not Kinder-garden. The woman putting her arms back at her side, the man continued to smile seeming to enjoy every living moment at every given time.
Grinning warmly as he continued springing around in the strap jacket, I closed my eyes a small bit and leaned back in my chair ready to hear his story.
"He was too happy. Too unpredictable.
Even the bravest of guards would bow if he had a knife, or better yet, run for their lives. Nobody entirely had a clue where he came from other than people who no longer work here. He's dangerous for people like us. The sane people.
We put him there because he likes being alone even though he loves visits. Like I said, he's unpredictable. He isn't schizophrenic like every typical patient that sometimes gets stationed here, but he has some issues we can't explain through mental illness.
We believe it's brain damage or trauma........But if it is trauma, why is he so happy?
I hope you've noticed, but he isn't exactly like the others who just want to go in a hole and die. Or hide from the light or just flat out be anti-social and try to hide from the guards. He's patient, you can see him scheming just by looking at his eyes. He's a genius.
He's smart."
He clapped his hands and spun around on the chair, dancing in the strap jacket of his that was still on his chest while he stuck his tongue out and giggled. The bright blue eyes filled with complete joy, a warm feeling buzzed in my chest as he continued dancing.
"I guess he's happy to be out." I laughed. The man trying to mock my laugh, I glanced over at him to see he was gazing at me with pure interest beaming inside of him. Grinning at the man, he gasped and immediately smiled back at me.
"Yeah, he hasn't been out of the two way window in a while." She whispered. Her voice almost cracking on the last two words, I turned to glance at her with some nervousness bubbling inside of me, hoping as much as I could that she wouldn't say no.
"...... Is it possible to take him as my Pen Pal?"
Pointing to the man who continued laughing and laughing as if someone told him the best joke in the world, I couldn't help but crack a smile.I loved his laugh. It was catchy. It caught on and cracked me up. Makes me feel warm inside like a baby or something tiny laughing. I love tiny things.
"I'm sure we could figure something out." Nodding my head to the women who seemed like a secretary, she took my hand and led me over to him, gently kneeling down.
"Hi Buddy, how are you doing today?" His lips curling into an even larger grin, his white teeth sparkled from the light inside of the room. Happiness breathing out of my mouth, I kneeled down as well.
"Hello again."
"H-Hi! Hi hi! Hellooo! Hi! Hi hi hi hi hi!......"
Stopping mid way in his tracks, he seemed to be trying to reach something but couldn't because of the strap jacket. Pity swinging through me, I glanced over at the women.
"C-Can you take the muzzle and jacket off?" I wondered. Looking up at the woman who continued gazing at me with a patient smile, she nodded before getting the key in her desk and unlocking it.
Sending me the slightest of worried looks. The clicks echoing through, his face seemed happier and happier with every click until it slid off of him leaving his arms free.Stretching them and wiggling them around, he snapped his gaze over to me excitedly, and opened his arms wide.
"THANKING YOU!" Wrapping them around me as his head nuzzled into my neck heat pounded into my face as I held him in my grasp. Tears welling up in my eyes at how cute and tiny he was,
I kept him as close as I could, feeling like he was precious. Realization smacking me in the head, I pulled away slightly so I could see his eyes as I looked him over.
"So what's your name?"
This question seeming to make him shine brighter than the hug itself, he squealed as he pushed me away entirely except for my hand which was connected with his.
Bobbing it up and down in a handshake, his green hair lay spuffed up at the top like every ounce of him was glowing with radiant energy.
Opening his mouth about to say his name, a loud gunshot sounded through the room and I flinched to see one of the guards watching me, not amused.
"We call him Jack."
"Alright, thank you." I coughed.
Shooting a look at the guard, I softened my expression when I turned back towards Jack who seemed to be staring at me like he always was, the white clothing he wore loose and hung off cause they were way too big on him.
"Jack...." I tried continuing. Reaching out he slipped his hand into mine and watched me with hope filling inside of his eyes. Jack waited for me to continue.
"I'm going to be visiting more often okay?"
"............."
"Jack?" The women sending daggers at the guards as they raised their guns, I waved them off with dismissal as he outstretched his hand towards my face.
His hand sliding smoothly across my jawline, he stopped so my face was cupped in his hand. Peeking upwards to see Jack's face, tears were sparkling inside of his eyes and a flash of what looked like a teenager jolted through my mind.
He uttered just a single word, that meant more to me than it would have for the rest of my life. Resting his forehead against mine, he breathed out that one word that killed me on the inside.
"Perfect...."
