As soon as I received an SOS call from Marcus, I knew somewhere, something had gone wrong. I also knew he hadn't intentionally meant to send it, as his trace was now like a beacon, pinpointing his exact location, no matter where he moved. Turning away from the way I was heading, I started to slowly jog towards where he was currently located. I just wished that none of the Resplendent had noticed, but it was highly likely that they had. His trace was like a thick black blotch of ink on a purely blank piece of white paper.

I managed to skid to a halt as I heard voices a few meters away.

"What happened?" A familiar voice seethed.

" He blew the facility up. Take him, and the device and go." A new voice commanded. Him?

"What about the Necromancer?" The other, much more familiar voice asked. I clenched my fists as I realised that it belonged to none other than Ethan.

"Elinor and Russel will take care of him." Came to the reply.

"And the half-fledged?"

"Leave him here. His Necromantic orb is almost impossible to crack."

I sighed in relief as the two split off into different directions. I then trailed behind Ethan, keeping to the shadow of the trees. I then froze at what I saw.

Kit.

Kit, lay on the floor, with a Necromantic orb hovered a few meters behind. The room looked as if it had been exploded, from the inside out. A whimper left my lips as I started to run to his aid, only to have some common sense and stop. If we're all captured, who'll save us, princess?

Unwillingly, I slunk back into the shadows, watching as Ethan dragged him out of the room, splinters of wood breaking his skin. I stood there, my entire body shaking until I couldn't anymore.

I stepped out of the shadows. "Put him down, Ethan," I growled.

He seemed taken back as he slowly put Kit down and turned ever so slowly, it put me on edge.

"Ah. Miss Marlow." He greeted, eerily formal.

I stood, as I glanced down at Kit and my heart filled with pain. "Let him go," I repeated, tears threatening to fall.

"I'm not entirely sure I can do that, Miss."

I turned as I caught movement in the corner of my eye. Marcus was being held against his will by a male not much older than myself and a female standing close by. They were the ones who took Archie.

He seemed defeated, drained as if he'd been placed in a Resplendent orb. His head lay limp and this gave me a sense of deja vu back to when I first met him.

The sky had darkened over once more and I closed my eyes, sighing. My barriers automatically strengthened and I opened my eyes.

With a flick of my wrist, the two who were with Marcus were engulfed in thick, black tendrils as they were suspended above the ground.

"Woah, Woah, WOAH." The owner of the voice I'd failed to identify earlier stepped out of the shadows, from behind.

He had dark hair and bright blue eyes that somehow seemed... Friendly?  He threw me a smile that was so genuine, I was momentarily taken aback. Yet something seemed off.

My suspicions were confirmed as he kicked Kit in the size, resulting in a groan from him and a sharp intake of breath from me.

"Everyone, needs to calm down!" He smiled, his eyes turning cold as he looked at Marcus and the two suspended in the air.

His eyes finally found mine and I glared at him. "Well, Hello."

I nodded stiffly in return.

"You must be the infamous Marlow." He glided over the debris on the floor, kissing my hand. "How rude of me not to introduce myself. I'm Dennis. It's a pleasure to meet you."

I froze at the gesture, pulling my hand away. "Wish I could say the same."

He seemed undaunted as he walked over to Marcus. "Oh, my. What a trace you have." He muttered, looking up at the suspended above, also nodding them a greeting. "Elinor. Russel."

He walked back over to me as we all heard Kit give out an audible shudder.

I started towards him, only to be held back by Dennis. His fingers dug into my wrist rather painfully and his expression turned serious.

"Not today, Princess." He muttered and I looked over at Kit.

"Kit.." I gasped, turning to face Dennis, "Please,"  I begged him.

He just shook his head, looking at Ethan. "Take him and the device and go." He repeated his statement from earlier.

Dennis clicked his fingers and a Resplendent orb appeared around Kit, as he walked away.

"No. NO! PLEASE!" I broke down. I had just found him, I wasn't going to let him go again. "Dennis, please, you have to understand."

He then just summoned another Resplendent orb, placing it over Marcus, who was leaning onto a tree for support, having already behind drained.

"No, please!" I cried, begging him to stop. Ethan was now out of view and I made to go after him, my attempts futile as I was pulled back by Dennis once more. He started dragging me the opposite direction as I dug my feet into the ground.

"Dennis! Let me go!" I screamed and thrashed against him, but he made no move to let me go.

Instead, I doubled over as a searing pain shot up my stomach as I looked up, teary eyed to look at Dennis shaking his hand. I coughed, standing up straight again starting to drag me away only to pause from Russel's calling.

"Dennis?" He called, his breath constricted as the coils tightened around him. Dennis ignored him.

"Kill them. I don't care."

Russel's eyes widened as he heard this and turned to one of pain. Elinor seemed more composed.

"You bastard." She swore. "We trusted you." She said, her voice shaking with anger.

Dennis merely shrugged.

I retreated my shadows, letting the two go. They slunk to the ground, unable to hide the shock that a Necromancer had spared the lives of two Resplendent.

Dennis swore, his fist catching my eye and I stumbled backward, holding onto a tree for balance. My eye throbbed in pain.

Dennis clutched my hair, pulling my head back, a thin sharp blade in his hand.

That's when all hell broke loose.
