Chapter 16

I sat at the bar swiveling on the bar stool as I watched Cody make waffles. Angie and Alli had gone to a photoshoot and brad and tom were still out for a surf. He slid a plate infront of me and leaned on the  otherside of the bar and watched me eat slowly. After noticing he was till watching me when I finished the first waffle I shoved the plate away like a toddler who didt want there vegitables.

"I know Im not a good cook but are they really that bad?" He asked examining them with a fork.

I shook my head "No there, delicous" I said laying my head on the counter.

He came around and rubbed my back silently. 

After a bit I sat up. "Cody, I dont want to be a downer on your family..Maybe I should go back?" 

He looked at me with mxed emotions. "but so much is happening! Scooter wants to meet in little less then a month and I was going to ask you to go on tour with me..."

I hesistated finding the right words to say "I know...I just feel like Im a bother to your family for being here and Austyn, I havent done any school work in almost a month"

"Youre not a bother! We really enjoy having you, Austyn will forgive you and we can get you a tuotor to catch you up!"

I was silent. Maybe he was right I coud make it work. I let out a sigh.

"Maybe a surf will clear your head for a bit?" He said pulling me off the stool and out of the kitchen.

I followed him to the garage as he he handed me a surfboard and wetsuit. I ran out into the waves. Brad and Tom were just heading back to the house.

"Morning, Melaine" Brad said excitedly.

"Good morning" I said politely back as i bobbed up and down in the swells.

After a few waves I began to felt better. I watched cody for awhile as I began thinking more about what we talked about. I began paddeling back to shore, Cody chased after me. I fell into the sand and looked up at him. "Lets a take a walk" I murmered leaving the boared in the sand.

Cody followed he took my hand .

"So I was thinking I would go back and talk to Austyn then my parents, I will tell them everything about the demo and figure out school and I come back after christmas?"

He wa quiet for a minute "Okay, I just want you back for tour" 

"I wouldnt miss it for anything"

November 20th 

Its going to be weird being back in Oregon. Im mostly scared about facing Austyn. She was right I was such a bitch for completely neglecting her. I know I dont deserve to be forgiven but she has to! She is my bestfriend-sister.

Im currently on my way to Sanfranciso then my mom will get me in PDX. Im slightly worried to hear what she says but she knows this has been a dream of mine since seventh grade. 

Part of me thinks Cody wanted to spend Christmas or New years together. Maybe we will?" Who knows its only November.,

Il get some more writing in soon but its nearly time to switch flights.

I grabbed my duffle and made my way to the correct boarding gate and waited for my next flight. After about 20 minutes I decided to walk down to the starbucks.

"A tall salted caramel latte" I said sliding my debit card my mom had given before.

The lady handed me the scalding cup. I winced as I rushed back to the gate, I bounced my leg up and down as I scrolled through my instagram feed. Nothing exciting.

I finally boarded the final flight.I watched the land fly by. The tiny ant like cars and toy mountains. I finally landed in PDX. I rushed out of the terminal and scanned the crowed for my mom. I spotted her waving me down. Her blonde hair pulled into a sleek ponytail. She was wearing a black oversized sweater with a white beanie that I had convinced her to buy, her brauman bag was linked on her arm. I droppped my carry and wrapped my arms around her.

"I missed you" She said not releasing me. 

"I missed you too" I said.

She finally released me and grabbed my duffle as we walked back to the car, I didnt say anything as the faint sound if michael buble came out of the speakers. She turned off the music then turned to me. "Well tell me what happned" She said 

I did, I told her about Cody and Austyn, the surfing lessons and the demo.

"A Demo?" She asked

"Yeah scooter and I are going to meet on december 1st to work out everything"

"So youre leaving again?" She said slightly hurt

"Well yeah, I mean this is a once in a life time oppertunity and you guys can all come with once I figure it all out."

"What about school?"

"Thats also another reason why I am back, Cody suggested homeschool"

her grip tightned on the steering wheel. "we will have to talk about it"

The rest of the trip home was silent.
