I slammed my journal ontop of the pile of clothes I had stacked sloppily in my oversized suitcase. I struggled to zip it up frustrated. I let out a grunt and soon gave up.

"Melaine lets go!" My dad cried down the hall.

I plopped myself in the car and rested my head on the frozen window. I watched as the snow covered ground flew by as we made our way to PDX.  We made it to PDX at 7:00 am. I stood in line for Starbucks after we got through security. I watched people pass by frantically trying to catch their flights.

I sipped my salted caramel latte and followed my parents to the gate with my suitcase in tow. the closer to the flight I got I began to feel my nerves go hay-wire. The airport was decorated with christmas lights and wreaths. I watched as women cuddled against their lovers. A jolt of pain overcame me. I imagined sitting against Codys warm body as he laced his fingers with mine.

"Melaine," my moms voice snapped me back to reality.

"Hmmm" I said sipping my drink casually.

"Its time to bored" She said standing up and with dad.

I shot up and grabbed my luggage and followed.

We reached 10,000ft and I immediatly plugged in my headphones and scrolled through my playlist. I stared resentifully as the screen as 'back to you' started playing. his voice filled my brain. I froze. The tears in my eyes threatned to fall. My mom looked at me curiously.

"Melaine, hun,whats wrong?" She asked.

"Nothing,Im just cant believe im on my way to Australia!" I lied taking out my headphones.

"you deserve it, baby" She said rubbing my shoulder.

I shutterted lightly "What exactly did I do to deserve this though?"

We reached sydney at 8:00 the next day. I stumbled off the plane awkwardly after 17 hours in coach I had forgtten the concept of walking. As we browsed around the airport like complete tourist  I slipped on my beats and strolled mindlessly behind my parents. My dad pulled us into a mini Coffee club for breakfast. I nibbled on a crossiant and sipped on an ice tea. I scanned the crowd in search for the simpsons feeling the paranoia creep in.

"Okay! Here is the plan!" My dad said enthusastically "we bored to goldcoast at 9" He said glancing at his watch  "Then the taxi should take us straight to our house!"

The 20 minute flight wasnt as bad as the first. I walked into the house marveing over the view of the ocean. I released my suitcase at the fron door and slipped off my flipflops. The sight of the giant pool sent shivers down my spine.

"Oh my goodness" I turned to see my mom checking out the view as well.

"Incredible, right?" I said

"Now I understand why you have been dying to come here" She murmered

It began to dawn on me that I could actually enjoy this with out him.

Quickly I ran up to my room. A King size bed sat in the middle of the room with a big fluffy comferter and a stack of cloud like pillows. I smiled and dove onto my bed. I began to feel the jet lag kick in. I closed my eyes and slipped into a sleep
