It had been, what, 6- no it was 7 - or is it 8? Whatever. They lost their counts.

They gave up.

And it even surprises them that they weren't dismayed, disappointed nor appalled. It was just contentment, an acceptance.

But, all of this happened because of the old woman they've talked with, from the last attempt they made.

Nico knocked on the archaic like door in front of him, barely making a contact afraid that he would destroy the hinges that hardly connects the door itself from the fence.

"Hello? Anybody in there? Maine? Tisoy?"

They waited for a minute. Nothing happened.

Nico breathed before trying to knock again, adding more force this time but still, controlled.

"Maine?! Tisoy?! Nandiyan ba kayo? Lumabas na kayo" He said vociferously

Still, nothing happened.

He turned to face Richard Sr. who was sweating profusely

"Tama 'yung address. I checked it thrice already"

Richard Sr. told him before he could even ask him.

"Eh bakit walang sumasagot?" RD questioned adjusting his eyeglasses

"Pasukin na kaya natin?" John

"Baka magalit naman 'yung may-ari" Nikki

"Kung sina Meng nga ang nandito, talagang di sila lalabas, kaya pasukin na natin at dun sila kausapin sa loob" Coleen

"Paano kung di pala sila nakatira dito? Nakakahiya sa may-ari na pumasok na lang basta-basta" Nikki reasoned out

"Sabihin na lang natin nainip kasi tayo kaya pumasok na lang tayo. Tara na. Kanina pa tayo dito eh, ang sakit na sa likod nitong bag na dala ko" John

"Bakit ka pa kasi sumama? Sana nag-stay na lang kayo ni Matti dun sa bahay, babalik din naman kami eh"

Matti who was playing and was silently playing with his tongue, suddenly whined and with a pout said

"But I wanna come and see Tita Ninang and Tito Ninong"

John shrugged "At gusto kong makapanood ng drama" He then whispered to Nikki half joking, half meaning it.

"Oh tara na" Nikki asked for other's approval and lead the way.

After passing thru the gate, they silently and slowly walk on the stoned pavements. But suddenly, they heard a sound, like the one's sole scraping the grass nearby, so they stopped.
