Chapter 9

"Whats a girl gotta do?"

The school week went by pretty fast without a hitch. Thank goodness. I hadn't seen Xander all week and I was beginning to wonder where he was hiding. We don't live in a very big town so I run into people everywhere. Except him. Maybe he didn't know where anything was so he never left the house? Next time I saw him maybe I would offer to show him around.

Xander was the talk of the town, and needless to say, my school. I heard girls whispering about him in class and the hallways, guys sizing him up, and a teacher even intercepted a note about him and read it aloud to the class. That was pretty funny.

"What are we going to do tonight?" Eve asked me as we got to our lockers.

"I don't know. I'm down to go out though if you find something to do... but no parties," I added at the end because I didn't need a repeat of last weekend.

"Well I haven't heard about anything going on and I don't want to go to the football game, it's too hot and my butt will stick to the bleachers," she said very seriously.

I smirked at her and replied, "Well when you get home just drop your stuff off and come to my house we'll figure something out."

"Alrighty then, sounds good," and with that she went out to her car while I was still at my locker trying to figure out if I needed to take anything home with me.

I just said forget it and shut my locker. Revealing a face standing behind it, leaning up against the locker. This particular face had two yellowing bruises under each of his eyes and a crooked nose. Cooper.

"Well if it isn't Floyd Mayweather herself," she said.

"What do you want?"

"To apologize for last weekend. I was drunk," he said trying to give me puppy dog eyes.

I snorted, "Huh, so you become an abusive rapist when you drink? You should talk to somebody about that," I said before turning away and walking towards the exit.

"No, smart ass. You just looked good to me and I wanted you. I always get what I want," he said, falling into step beside me.

"Well that's a wasted effort because you're not gonna get me."

"Why? Because of your stupid little boyfriend?"

I stopped and raised an eyebrow at him before proceeding to walk out into the student parking lot.

"You know he's not going to get away with what he did to me right?" he asked. Was this kid seriously threatening Xander? Indirectly of course... scaredy cat.

"And what exactly are you gonna do about it?" I asked, highly doubting he could do any damage to Xander without a gun. I mean, Cooper was big but not like Xander. Nobody was like Xander.

"Why would I tell you? You're just going to run and tell him."

"I barely even know the kid. So I don't know what you're even talking about," I said, wondering why everybody thought me and him were involved at all.

"Well by the way he was looking at you, I know you're lying," cooper replied looking satisfied with himself.

"You were drunk, I doubt you could see very much of anything," I said as I reached my car, not hesitating to unlock the doors and get in.
