"How are you guys not worried?!" Quint stared at Perky in horror, the stab wounds dripping blood like a tap drips water. She looked as though she was in terrible pain, but her smile still stuck firmly upon her face.
Perky winced slightly as she sat up to reply. "The smell keeps me calm."
"The smell?"
"Yes, the smell of blood. Even if it is mine," Perky answered, then Forlorn pushed her head back down onto the pillow. They had moved to the nursery, where there was several stolen hospital beds, a few of them a little burnt, from what Quint was pretty sure was Passive's lighter, which Quint couldn't help but notice was still tucked in under her dress on a chain going around her neck.
"Hold still dammit." Forlorn growls at Perky, who gives a smirk back to her.
"Passive, take Quint out of here. He's not supposed to be watching this." Forlorn says, looking up at Quint while she speaks.
Passive nodded, and was about to grab Quint's arm when he shook her off and said he would follow behind her.
They walked along the hall in silence, until Quint finally worked up the nerve to say, "Wasn't one of the rules 'no weapons'? How come you didn't get in trouble for it?"
Passive let out a wicked laugh. "No. I always win against Perky, and Forlorn hasn't fought against me since..." Passive didn't finish her sentence. Quint didn't ask her to.
"So is Forlorn the gentler one out of all of you?" Quint asked, thinking that maybe he'd be able to get used to at least one of them, seeing as he wasn't allowed to leave.
"Gods no. She has more sense then us, and she's quieter than us, but underneath that skin lies a sleeping beast, and believe me, you don't want to wake it. Even I felt a little uncomfortable around Forlorn the first time she... snapped."
Quint shuddered. Why couldn't he have been trapped in a house with a bunch of misunderstood girls who really aren't actually phsyco killers but just girls trying to get away from this cruel world?
"What was so special about that book?" Quint managed to ask, wanting to change the subject badly.
Passive didn't say anything until they reached the kitchen.
"That book was the last thing I had of my past life. Of the life that could have been. But now isn't." She said, turning her dark eyes to meet Quint's.
"Wait here." Passive said, then turned on her heel and walked back down towards the nursery.

"Perky god dammit, I can't fix you up if you're moving." Forlorn snapped. Perky just giggled. Forlorn rolled her eyes. "Fine. You can die then, more food for me."
Perky pursed her lips in childish annoyance but finally stayed still. Forlorn began working, trying to get as much done in the short time that Perky would stop moving. She stitched up the stab wounds, not with the thicker thread that had been used to sew her face and neck stitches, but some thinner stuff that they used for this sort of thing.
While Forlorn was just about to start on Perky's stomach wound, Passive came in, looking as mighty and as bored as ever.
"He's getting braver." She states, and Forlorn nods distractedly.
"That's a good thing, right?" Perky asks, then flinches in surprise when Forlorn purposely stabs her with the needle.
"Stop moving."
"I don't know." Passive says. "What do you think Forlorn?"
"Great job Passive." Forlorn answers distractedly.
"Because he asked me why I didn't get in trouble when I bought a weapon into the ring. What do you say to that Forlorn?" Passive says, trying to get Forlorn to pay attention.
"Yes, well done." Forlorn says, her attention solely on Perky's right knee now. Perky giggles.
Passive rolls her eyes. "He also said that he thinks he's falling in love with you Forlorn, and that one day he is going to sweep you off your feet and marry you and have ten children afterwards." Passive lies, then almost laughs when Forlorn says, "That's lovely Passive."
"Right, I'll just go tell him then." Passive smirks.
Forlorn finally looks up from Perky's shoulder at Passive. "Tell him what?"
Passive lets out a laugh. "Nothing. But now that I have your attention, I just said that the pet is learning to bark."
"Well, we'll just have to wait and see if he's going to be a good boy and be quiet, or a bad boy. If he's a bad boy, then we'll have to punish him, just like all good pet owners do." Forlorn says simply.
Perky grins evilly. "For his sake, he better be a good boy."
"Cause I have so many different ways of punishment."
