"Hey we need to go or we will be late." Luke told me.

"Oh yeah haha..coming." I couldn't help but be mesmerised by such a small gesture. Call me old fashion but I look for that in a guy. Someone who stands up for me.

"Hey Luke?" I asked quietly once we had sat down for detention.

"Yeah?" He seemed interested.

"Why did you do that?" I asked politely.

"Do what?" Damn it why do boys have to ruin everything.

"Don't worry." I was angry now.

"Do you mean why did I help you pick up your books?" He looked at me with his serious face again.

"Yeah." Luke just looked down and played with his fingers.

"Luke?" I lowered my head so I could see his face.

"Right. Emma and Luke. Write down 100 times 'we will not leave class again for unnecessary reasons' " Mrs Darby said, right when Luke was about to talk. I was never going to know the answer. I will ask him later today.

"Once you've done that. Show me. And I will dismiss you. You have recess, lunch and after school to finish."

"Yes Miss." Luke and I said in time. After that we just wrote and wrote.

Home time. Is it weird that I don't want to leave Luke. I'm intrigued by him. Something plays on my mind about his gesture. Anyway he finished writing the same time I did. We walked outside and it was freezing.

"I will see you tomorrow Luke."

"Oh are you not catching the bus?" Luke asked surprised.

"Na. I'm going to get my mum to come and pick me up." I said with a shutter.

"I will wait with you!" Can he leave me alone.

"It's ok. I'm a big girl. I can wait on my own."

"Ok. Well call me when you get home."

"Ok bye." Who was he?... My mother?

I had already rang mum earlier to tell her to come. But knowing her she probably forgot. It was 4:00pm so I had been waiting an hour. And look an incoming call from Luke.

"What?"

"Are you home yet?" He seemed worried. Which was strange.

"No um. I think mum has forgotten and I can't get a hold of her so-" he interrupted me before I could continue.

"I'm coming." WHAT. This boy is crazy.

"Are you really?" Obviously I was in shock.

"YES!" He shouted.

By the time I knew it, he was here.

"Hey, let's go." He held out his hand to help me up. I fell for it this time.

"You know I'm capable of walking home by myself." I sternly said whilst I was coming to a stand.

"Yeah well..." He always does this, he never finishes his sentences.

"Well what?" I asked unsure.

"It doesn't matter."

"Why doesn't it?" I was getting frustrated.

"Because it won't change anything. It won't make you see me any differently... So it doesn't matter." He went shy after his little outburst.

"Maybe if you told me, I might think differently. So tell me Luke. Tell me what you want. I will try not to judge you." I meant what I meant.

"Fine... I like you. I like how you fight back. You're never to afraid to stand up to me. No one has ever done that before. I'm so intrigued by the way you talk to me. I'm intrigued by you. And I want to get to know you more. After the first time I spoke to you at the bus stop I knew I wanted more of you. But something stops me every time." I wasn't expecting that, and yet I still don't know if he is telling the truth. I want to think he is but he... Well I don't know. He looks like a liar. Even though his eyes were true.

"What's stops you." I asked truthfully.

"You."
